I can't play APD with a vibration damper on

I just can't feel the ball with my APD (non-Cortex) with the vibration damper on. It feels dead to me. I have tried the Gamma worm-type damper and a rubber band tied to the middle two strings. But the APD feels best without the damper.

But I heard that it is very easy to get Tennis Elbow from non-cortex APD if you don't have the damper on. Is it true?

BS. A dampener wouldn't increase the chance of tennis elbow, and it don't decrease it. A dampener decreases the sound the string makes, and takes away some of the feel. That's all.

Now, if you're worried about TE, change your strings. Those WILL have an effect on your arm.

Meowmix is totally right. The other problem I had with the apd and apdc is that the open 16X19 string pattern makes it very easy for the dampener to pop out as well. I got sick of looking all over the court for my lost dampeners :) I finally quit playing with one because I was always losing them.

I use full poly and the pinging sound drove me crazy for about a week but then I got used to it and never looked back. I guess a person can get used to about anything.

I used a Bab custom dampener for my APD with the insert. Never fell out... in fact, it was very difficult to put on. I would imagine any other "conventional" dampener wouldn't stay on as well.

Yeah, I have an APD and don't use a dampener either. Trust me, it's way better without. You'll get used to the noise after a day or two.

You know, I've heard people say that a millions times, but I swear I can feel a big difference. Without a dampener I can feel residual string vibrations running down the handle and it always bugs me. I really hate the pinging sound as well. So, I always use a dampener, but it's fine because Yonex racquets have tons of feel already anyway. When I tried using a Pure Drive Cortex with a vibration dampener I seriously couldn't feel the ball at all. It was like double bagging it.
