... i wanted david nalbandian to win their semi because i thought he would have a better shot at giving us a more exciting match against roger federer in the finals. yeah, i'm already assuming fed will beat nicolas kiefer, even though i think kiefer might actually give him some trouble, just like haas and davydenko did. the problem when these unknowns - when they breakthrough and reach the finals of a major, they usually get overcome by the occassion. this is especially true for the younger, inexperienced players. moya, schuettler, clement - they all got blown away in the finals by the overwhelming favorite at that time. nalbandian himself experienced this when he got to the wimbledon finals as an unknown. whenever roger plays, he is always a favorite to win. match him up against an inexperienced upstart and we just might get another whitewash of a final.
