Samp and Gimelstob practicing. I know who wins the tennis match, but who wins the ego match.

Gimelstob has posted on his SI blog that he still thinks that Sampras could still be world #2 over a short match on a fast court

chill everyone....the dude is probably a decent student at UCLA and actually does show up to his classes or has a job because these days, he could still be on TW in his classes.

or he's in the middle of encoding as we squabble on this thread.

    How was pete movin

yo bud I was a ball boy for 5 years when I was younger.Been on court with the best of them.Pete was the real deal.Andre was the king.but monica and steffi would make your jaw drop with precision strokes.I once played baseball wit andre real cool.If you have any kids get them into it.The on court time watching pros will help with your kids game trust.Sabatini with those soaked shirts was the best part by far

I'm a freshman at UCLA and when Pete was hitting around noon, it was during one of my discussion sections. But I was just like screw it, why go to a boring class when I could watch PETE SAMPRAS? So I stayed for about an hour or so until my next lecture started and I had to go to that one. SURPRISINGLY, I was only one of the few people there watching him cause he was playing in the backcourts. I felt like a creepy stalker with the camera aimed at him the entire time, but i'm not gonna lie...he's my childhood hero. I'm back in my dorm right now and could upload them but I can't find my freaken usb cord! I might have left it at home, so I may not be able to get them up until tomorrow. Pete was really relaxed and loose...they were messing around a lot and yelling really loud "come ons" during practice points (where they would play up to 11 or something). During one point, he smacked a really hard forehand winner and kinda looked at me (camera in hand) and said "THAT'S A YOUTUBE SHOT."

And Tallgeese, I did get a picture with him at the end! What's your name?

LOL, is that what he really said, or was it just your interpretation?

Anyway, the title of this thread should be 'I just saw JUSTIN GIMELSTOB hit at UCLA!'

I wonder why he's playing at UCLA. I think he has a court at his house in Bel Air or somewhere nearby too.

I used to think the same thing, but people with courts in their house usually end up not using them as often. Pete hits at UCLA more than sporadically. He donates there and its always good to get out and hit then staying at home.

or maybe Gimelstob has poor guest manners.

Great people seem to practice at UCLA; there's Sampras who occasionally practices, and before Agassi retired, my friend saw him practicing.

"smile, smile for the camera" looks like it got a laugh ...then he moved to another court? lol.

i think he could play in the top 10 easily, but he's done with it. did anyone see the team tennis match where he whipped up on andy a bit?

If you see him again, ask him what type of racket is he hitting with.. PS 85 with 90 size head or nCode 90. Or just take a good picture of the racket that Sampras is hitting with.

I am a UCLA graduate. I am trying to recall where these courts are. Are they at Sunset or at the Tennis Center? I don't remember that red brick building.

"Yeah that's what I'm talkin' about Pistol!" ? Who yelled that? Was that Pete?

Pete is gonna be pretty dissapointed that his Youtube comment and the preceding casuel forehand didn't make it. Maybe he'll contact you and arrange to recreate it!

    Awesome thread btw.
