The night prior to the final, Mr. and Mrs. Federer received from a phone call from the hotel phone. Mr. federer answered the phone having his ears greeted by a very thick accent. The thick accent man told Federer if he doesn't throw the Final tomorrow, his twins are in grave danger and before Federer could answer he heard the chilling click of the phone hanging up.

It's the only logical explanation for his lost at the US open.

Tomorrow is the US Open final. My twin daughters have been kidnapped. And the people I work with may be involved. This is tennis player Roger Federer and this is the longest day of my life......

The real reason is that he saw Mirka making out with Gavin in the stands just before the fifth set started.

The thick foreign accent belonged to Nikolay Davydenko.

The real reason is because he didn't play a smart game. He didn't mix things up with short angles and drop shots nearly as much as he should have. Instead, he largely went toe-to-toe at the baseline with the guy.

It must have been Bill Tilden. He didn't want his record broken. People spoke with funny cockney accents back then.
