"I still have a lot to learn" says Djokovic to Rafa's PR after watching the final.

You may or may not know Rafa and Djokovic share the same PR, Benito Perez-Barbadillo. (You can always spot him in Nadal's camp.)
Anyway, this article is mostly about Nadal (Everything is at the moment) but there's like 2 lines about Djokovic. :p

Djokovic, the world No3 from Serbia, watched the final while on holiday in Italy, during which he sent a text to Benito Perez-Barbadillo, his PR manager, who does the same job for Nadal. “I still have a lot to learn,” it read.

I think all the insults Djokovic gets in this board are too premature. He's young and I'm sure he and his family will learn how to cope with the press and at least look humble. After all, Nadal and his family are used to fame, as his uncle was a top soccer player.

I don't know if Joker will be happy with his PR manager for showing his text message. He has a funny nickname. Nadal calls him "filete" (and did so in Wimbledon's final speech), which means steak. Don't ask me why

I agree with you but I don't think his family will come around.

I don't think Djokovic's PR has been that good, judging by the vitriol aimed at him on this and other tennis boards. Maybe he should fire the guy. ;)

Endorsement $$$$$ vs. Comments by posters on tennis message boards.

I would think his PR guy's performance is being evaluated based upon the former as opposed to the latter. :)

Maybe I should keep it to myself but, the first thing I thought of was "I still have a lot to learn... Like don't quit matches."

Yes you should have kept this to yourself. This is uncalled for.

I think this is the right thing for him to say. He realizes that he has a long way to go before he can compete in a match the way Nadal and Federer did in the final, his statement shows respect to both players.

I don't think Djokovic is ready to play at the level Federer and Nadal did in that match. They both handled the pressure quite well. Federer going for his 6th didnt want to come just short of the mark. And Nadal had lost the past two years, if he were to lose this year again, people would start to think he just can't beat Federer on grass. There was a huge amount of pressure on both players, and they both played great regardless of it.

fickle people on this board

joker is my fave to win the US open, and if he does there will be people jumping on the bandwagon again claiming he is the best player in the world

What is there to learn? How can anyone stop Nadal? If you don't have his power, how can you win on a slow surface?

someone will learn, just like he learned to beat Federer who was recentl called "Invicible" "machine" one of the commentators called Nadal a machine and all I could do was " oh my, times change quickly"

I repeat, the commentators... I'm not going to buy into all this Nadal kiss his ass thing:mad:

Absolutely. I think it shows great humility on Djoker's part. He's a rising star, talented and all that, but Rafa and Fed showed a whole 'nother level Sunday. Djokovic realized that. This will make him train harder to get there. Tennis benefits!

He learned that he is not quite there yet. He thought he was. Now he knows what it takes to actually dethrone someone. You have to have nerves of steel.

I know that's right. Nadal's potential was obvious when he first came on tour. But they're the one who deemed him clay-court only. Now that he has silenced his critics they're standing in line singing his praises and trashing their former idol at the same time. Nadal will never fall for their garbage. His greatest asset is his mind. Now they're just seeing it? Get from me!
