For conventional icing 360 degrees around joint with no hassle usage, one may wish to buy a bilateral ankle product like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004LW8BKE/ref=ya_aw_oh_pit then simply repurpose for application to elbow. Easier than all other methods I've tried. I substitute ziploc gallon freezer bag for the two OEM small bags. No ice bag holding, real ice efficacy, no dripping in car, stays put, easy to apply and remove, and does not interfere with driving.

Or you could just use a bag of frozen peas. A bag of frozen corn will do also do in a pinch.

    Try this:

Get yourself a paper cup, fill with water and put in freezer.

When frozen, peal back the paper and gently rub the ice on your elbow. Works like a charm!

I love self ice massage! Might of course be common sense, but when doing this, don't forget about a towel to keep the surface or your clothes dry!

    Homemade ice packs:

    (2) gallon freezer bags
    Rubbing alcohol
    Water

Using a 1:2 or 1:3 part ratio of rubbing alcohol and water, place mixture in 1 freezer bag. Squeeze out all the air and place in the second freezer bag. Place in freezer and let set.

It'll be slushy, moldable to body parts, and reusable.

Works great for a small area like your achilles but when your entire elbow swells, need that 2# bag of sweet peas.

Ice cup massage can cover a large area and works great in a pinch, esp if you're pressed for time. 2-3 minutes and you can start the icing process until you have more time to cover the area with a cold compress.
