I don't even care if Roger wins Gold, I just want him to do better than Nole so he stays No.1! I haven't even watched any of his matches yet! If Roger wins Gold - great, if he doesn't, it'll be okay if he's still No.1!

why isn't Fed trying to win the mixed doubles gold to show how truly versatile he is? :)

Yes, I agree, if he doesn't win he can't be considered the Goat, he already has such a bad h2h against nadal, this would be just embarrassing

Federer should be very careful. Having lost the doubles already, he should be very afraid of DP the big man.

What is more special: something that comes 4 times a year or something that comes once in 4 years?

Winning the Olympics is only slightly harder than winning a tournament like Madrid once every 4 years...it's special because you get to represent your country,

To each his own...Nadal's accomplishments aren't near as impressive as some others but we can all have our opinions...NOT EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT SLAM TOTALS (17>11):

    Weeks at #1:
    Fed 288+...
    Sampras 286
    Lendl 270
    Connors 268
    Mac 170
    Borg 109
    Nadal 102

    Weeks Consecutive #1
    Fed 237
    Connors 160 and 84
    Lendl 157 and 80
    Sampras 102 and 82
    Hewitt 75
    Mac 58
    Nadal 56

In my opinion, Senor Nadal is a career #2 man, no?

    Cincinnati titles:

    Federer - 4
    Nadal - 0
    Djokovic - 0

Case closed. Federer is the GOAT.

Not sure why people still bite on sureshs threads. He/she is just a troll, and wouldn't even deny that...unless, of course, he/she was trolling with his/her response to whether or not he/she is a troll.

I suspect this person may even be a Federer fan.

Exactly, Laver, Sampras, Borg, McEnroe, Connors, zero golds for all of them, so I would guess Agassi or Nads would be the only options for the *******s, and we know who comes out on top there.

For someone who's such a big Rafa fan surely you'd know his first wimbledon was 2003 and not 2005, just putting it out there

Nadal is the most prolific doubles player in the top 5, is he a loser then?

Yeah it doesn't. I could as well say that Nadal is the GOAT because he won 6 Rome titles, Djoko won 2 and Fed won 0. About as convincing as the Cincy argument :)

C'mon Veroniquem, you've been around long enough to know the inside joke, it's about this thread:

One of Sureshs' gems no doubt.

Zagor, I know the joke but I don't like it sorry. It starts as a joke and then people start actually believing that nonsense. Cincy is a master like any other, there is nothing special about it and somebody has to tell the truth about it :)

    two words:

    "cycling down"

Or maybe Nads is just not good enough to beat top 8 players in round-robin.

I spent about 15 hours at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal so far this week and only once was I asked "who won that match?" or been involved in a discussion about tennis at the Olympics. Most of the talk was of the "did we (Canada) win a medal today?" variety. Now go there during a slam or even a masters, and most people not playing (or working) are glued to tv's watching matches.

So it seems that the only people who obsess about tennis at the Olympics are a minority of people on tennis forums.

Nicolas Massau is at home somewhere reading talk tennis wondering if he should post asking if he'd be above Federer in the GOAT list...

Hell, he won TWO golds... the singles and doubles in one games. There's no way Nadal can top that and overtake him as GOAT surely?

Ehh.. Fed's probably gonna win the gold.. For whatever reason, when Nadal isn't around, Fed always seems to win.

Djoker isn't playing an absolute high like last year.. Hell he isn't even that impressive this year. Murray is Murray.. A question mark still. The rest of the field, still a day late and dollar short and not worthy of winning big titles.

    Fed will win the gold

Forget Fed, Nadal isn't even the left-handed GOAT.

How could be Laver if he doesn't have the Olympics? Do you disagree with guru Surescht?

wont make a big difference since he already has an olympic gold in the dubs..but on the other hand if he wins, people like you won't even have an argument on the GOATdom as he would have all 4 slams and olympic singles and the doubles gold too..I suggest you and other nadal fans who come up with such lame posts better leave this forum if roger wins..

There is no "greatest of all time" category in this life. "All time" is forever. Who knows if there will be a player who will win 5 calendar year grand slams in year 9890? Besides, tennis players play in different eras, against different players. It is not as if all tennis players (from all eras) playing together at the same time against each other.

When the judgment day comes, when all human beings will be raised from death, then all tennis players who has ever played tennis in this earth can hold "the greatest of all time" tournament or championship. They all should play against each other until we find who the greatest is. That's if you believe in mumbo jumbo.
