If Federer plays Nadal at 2013 AO, who do you think will win?
Nadal, most likely.
Fed of course.
Fed will crush injured rafa
Don't forget, team Nadal has announced that Nadal will never again use 'band-aid' solutions. That means Nadal will only play when 100%. That is why we are seeing a prolonged break since Wimbledon. Whoever plays Nadal from now on, plays the real thing, not an abbreviated version.
For *******s and Rafa haters.........obviously it's Fed.
For *******s and the same.......it's Rafa.
CLOSE THREAD !! Question answered. There are at most 5-7 objective people in tis board, so case close. :-?
Nadal easily, and I say this as a Fed fan.
If they played it would be in a Semifinal or Final most likely indicating that Nadal is healthy and confident enough to compete. No matter what form Federer is in, he'll eventually mentally collapse as we saw in the AO12 semifinal where he was the better in form player until the second set.
don't forget that rafa is the king of excuses. I could see him ducking every fast court season from now on due to "injury."
8-3 if AO is nadal's 1st comeback tournament!
Given Nadal's current form, Federer would win.
Sadly, Nadal. (I am a Fed fan.)
If Nadal is fit and has played a decent schedule in the lead-up to the AO then I think he takes this.
It's a poor match-up for Fed on a slow court and those damned AO courts are dead slow unfortunately.
Disclaimer: I am a Fed fan.
Rafael Nadal. Every single time. When will people get that drilled into their heads? 8-2 in slams, no wins against Rafael Nadal since Wimbledon 2007 (when Nadal was still learning to play on grass). 2-0 in hard-court slams. Nadal in 4 sets at the most. (Federer to possibly win a 7-6 set as he is not capable of pushing Nadal to five sets in the slams anymore.)
Probably just about every active member of the forum will have voted by January. This thread has mad legs.
Do you have the link to the match thread (with poll) for Federer vs Nadal at AO 2012? I wouldn't be surprised if most people voted for Federer to win in 4 sets.
When people decline in tennis, they start losing to people they should be winning against.
Not going to happen with Nadal vs Federer. It's always going to be Nadal who pulls out the win. Every time.
No, never seen it
I found the thread.
The overwhelming poll option was Federer in 4. Given that a lot of people probably voted Nadal in 4 after the match had finished, just goes to show how wrong TW's predictions (on the whole) tend to be.
If Federer plays Nadal at the AO semi, Djokovic will win the final.
Duh, Is there any doubt ?
Nadal... always Nadal... and I will go bald from tearing my hair out if it's anything like their last two slam meetings.
You mean what are the implications of Nadal beating Federer in the Australian Open thus leading the hard court slam h2h 3-0?
Tough one this. I'd usually go for Rafa, but I'm not sure he'll be match fit/tight by the time of the AO.
Nadal will win. I don't think I have to explain.
If Nadal reaches the final and plays against Djokovic, it'll be another standard Nadal win in 4 sets (like USO 2010). Nadal has closed the mental gap between himself and Djokovic (see AO 2012 final), since he then went on to destroy Djokovic three consecutive times (plus at AO 2012 he has the golden opportunity to bring the H2H to a staggering 20-14, mirroring the Sampras-Agassi H2H, and it's widely believed that Sampras dominated Agassi on the whole).
Nadal - Even with low confidence, Nadal has a huge match-up advantage which almost always results in Fed breaking down in best of 5
I do think it will be like their last two meetings (Nadal in 4 sets). In both matches, Nadal won a 7-6 set, and Nadal won a one-sided set (6-1 at Roland Garros 2011, 6-2 at AO 2012).
I didn't think of that, good point. If Nadal wins he'll lead Federer 3-0 in hard-court slams. That's astounding considering Federer's hard-court resume.
Are you kidding me? If Nadal can go deep enough in the AO to play Fed, Nadal will beat him in a similar fashion to this year's AO (maybe worse). Not to mention the fact that the AO surface suits Nadal exceptionally well against Fed.
Sad to see that the poll is nearly even right now loool.
It'd be like the Nation's Smartest Kid playing the Nation's Scariest Kid except if they would be the same person.
In the AO 2012 SF poll, Federer led by a significant margin (the most popular option was "Federer in 4"). Just proves that TW are terrible at making predictions.
I think the winner will be Djokovic. He is undefeated against both, and Murray on this surface.
Yes I concurr
If you think TW makes predictions you're delusional fans just vote for their fav player
Spot on, you should modify the thread , if rafa meets fed in semis who will win the final as the cup is the thing that matters and Rafa is djokers b!**h:twisted:
I enjoyed the 2012 meeting because Federer won the first set, so it made it interesting. Nadal is like a time-bomb and you wait for him to explode (fist-pump) and take over the match. I was pretty sure it was happening at some point, but there was still suspense because we weren't accustomed to Federer winning the 1st set.
Nadal. The surface thing.
Nadal will win on hard clay
nadal celebrating a goal LOL
Federer is the people's champion.
Never heard of a people's champion who came up short every single time.
I know 17 GS I mean honestly why does he keep coming up short??
Nadal in 3....against Rosol.....why did he come up short?
How come the Immpossible and the Hearty Champion of 40 year women fall so low?
In the Cinci Final this year, everybody was hyping up for Federer V Djokovic, thinking it would be very close. Instead Fed started out with a bagel. It will be the same in AO, and I would laugh my a** off.
Bagel for Nadal, no?
Who is going to create the next most moronic thread (in world and moon history) about Federer and Nadal?
I'm gonna have to go with NSK.
exactly, it's not like he's lost to nadal at the australian open. that crying we saw him do was all in our nightmares.
Separate names with a comma.
