murray might have a better chance at winning olympic gold than he did at winning wimbledon because the earlier rounds are best of three, where he usually does better. even the semis are best of three. if he draws roger or novak in the semis, he has a better chance to win that and get to the finals than if it had been at a grand slam. now the gold medal match will be best of five. but it will be just one match where he has to deal with that format.

in any case, if he does go on to win the gold medal, does it make up for his failure to win the singles title at wimbledon? and, knowing the media and how some people think, will they put an asterisk to his achievement saying that a british player was actually able to win at wimbledon, albeit a different, though arguably equally prestigious event? :-D

If Murray wins Gold, it will be Huge to England, but as much to andy as winning wimbledon. but it will be big to England, and andy will probably be Knighted.

no way. olympics =/= wimbledon. it would probably make him feel a lot better though, and it would be big for GB

Not sure. There will be lots of British Gold medalists. He'll be one of many.

    Nope. 1 GS = 2 Olympic Golds
    therefore 1GS>1 Olympic Gold

Not even close I'm afraid. Only a slam will sate Murray.

never. it might be nice for him, but tenniswise a slam is far more important and this is how he will feel. I'm 100% sure he would prefer to switch titles if he could choose.

wimby is by far the most important title. if he wins gold, he will wish he won wimby instead

    HOWEVER

if he wins gold and also goes on to win wimby in the future, looking back on his career he will be probably be glad that he won olympic gold on 'home' soil (even if it was at expense of another grand slam)

winning olympic gold at home is pretty special
