Federer would've gotten his 14th a few days ago. Scary thought. I realize some may think this is the most pointless post of the day.

He would be doing a calendar-year-grand slam so many times it's not even funny...

This is what Martina said at a century sports award show I saw 7 years ago.

Martina- "If Chris had never been born, or I had never been born, she may have won more titles, or I may have won more titles. But we would not have been the players we became. Because we pushed each other, and we became so much more then we would have been without the other there."

If Sampras didnt quit after the 2002 US Open, Federer would not have won 11 grand slam titles today.

If he wasn't born, Federer would, yes.
Wimbledon this year would have been boring huh?

I think the "anti-Federer is winning everything" people would have more to be angry about.

Yep, dumb post...look at it the other way though...if Fed wasn't around how many slams would Roddick and Nadal have?

The message board activity of the "anti-Federer is winning everything" people seems to have increased since Federer's recent slam title. Federer's win was like a jab in the eye for some of them I guess. A lucky jab makes it all the more difficult to take.

Shoot, what if both Nadal and Fed had never been born? We'd have to watch Hewitt and Roddick dueling it out for Grand Slams for the better part of the last 3-4 years.

it is a bit of a lackluster topic, say what if sampras was never born,...how many more slams might agassi have won? 2-3? 4-5? more?

but if nadal was never born....the speculation.....federer would have likely have won the french open 3 years straight now, and already have achieved GOAT status winning the calendar slam in 2006, and 1 slam away from repeating that feat this year

oh that thought is just completely unbelievable....10 straight slams, going for 11, ....that would mean he would have won #14 at this year's wimbledon...and going for #15 at the us open....W O W....

If Federer were never born then Hewitt, Roddick, and Nadal would probably have 4-5 slams each by now along with more Masters titles and possibly another Masters Cup for Hewitt and one for Nadal. Davydenko could have been in a few slam finals, Gonzo would have had a slam title, etc.

All in all Federer not being born would change a lot more history than Nadal not being born.

Disagree. Your first paragraph may be true, but it's not as crazy as what could have transpired if Nadal wasn't around. We're talking about TEN STRAIGHT Grand Slams. Who in history is ever going to top that?

This just shows just how great a tennis player Federer is, and critics should stop pinpointing that he's not the best or whatsoever.

It's a good thing there is a person such as Nadal to challenge Federer, after all without much challenge, breaking records would be kinda moot and boring, but with a strong challenger, it would make breaking those records sweeter.

if fed wasn't born nadal would have two back to back rg-wimbledon titles and people would be saying he is the greatest since borg and borg would have gone to wimbledon anyway.

Venus would have won 11 Grand Slams if her sister Serena was never born. :-D

If Federer was never born, Nadal would have won his Wimbledon 2 in a row by now.

It is hard to say. He may have felt the pressure more at some point had the record been more in sight in recent times then it was.

    Hmm lets see:

    2003 Wimbledon-Roddick
2004 Australian-Roddick, Hewitt, Nalbandian, or Agassi
    2004 Wimbledon-Roddick or Hewitt
    2004 U.S Open-Agassi or Hewitt
    2005 Wimbledon-Roddick or Hewitt
    2005 U.S Open-Agassi or Hewitt
2006 Australian-Baghdatis, Haas, Davydenko, or Nalbandian
    2006 Wimbledon-Nadal
    2006 U.S Open-Roddick
    2007 Australian-Gonzalez
    2007 Wimbledon-Nadal

So 2 Wimbledons for Nadal to go with his 3 French Opens
Maybe another 2 slams for Hewitt, for around 4
Maybe another 3 slams for Roddick, for also around 4
A slam title for Gonzalez, rewarding him for his sick form in Australia
Maybe another 2 slams for Agassi, giving him a total of 10 slams
Maybe a slam title for 1 of Davydenko or Nalbandian, rewarding them for their consistent persistance
