He could beat most players, but still not Federer. You do realize that he lost that match to an old Agassi right?

At his best he kept losing to Federer, Agassi, and Hewitt.

I doubt he would dominate all of those guys but the more attacking forehand would probably be more effective against those guys (well he's already beating Djokovic quite a bit) than his new game.

It's very telling that he can play his best tennis ever and still lose.

Yea, Roddick's best still loses to Federer everywhere, and Nadal everywhere except maybe fast HC and grass. (maybe).

Yes that is why he lost almost every match to Federer in 2003-2004, and most matches vs both Hewitt and and old Agassi in 2003-2004. The idea you think any version of Roddick would crush any of the players you listed is laughable at best. OK Gasquet is the only one possibly, but why you listed him with those others is a mystery upon itself anyway.

The match you listed he lost to an old Agassi and you think he would be crushing Federer (who was 8-0 vs an old Agassi), Nadal, Djokovic, Murray playing the same way. ROTFL!!!!!

Thanks to the OP for posting this. This revived old memories.

I was in the stands for this match and enjoyed every moment of it. Till date this is the most electric atmosphere I have every seen at Cincy (and I have been there for last 5 years).

The split in the crowd was about 90-10 in Agassi's favor. The 10 is because of the few teenaged girls in crowd. I remember a bunch sitting close to us with a girl having A-N-D-Y written in bad handwriting on her arm with a marker. And those chants of "Andeee Roddick" are also coming back.

But it was Agassi who stole the show completely. He frustrated Roddick so much that once he took the towel and shouted loudly into it. Andy was just smiling at the other end. My wife was busy scanning the crowd to see if Steffi was there.

Agassi beat Lleyton the next afternoon for the title.

The other match that I remember clearly is from the next year (2005) of Roger Vs Ginepri. Roger was one set down and came back after the rain delay after someone in the crowd shouted to a wide applause " Come on Roger show us why you are number 1".

Oh Can't wait to go back to Cincy this year.
