Hypothetical here...If the women's draw went best of 5 sets at the major tournaments, what players would stand more of a chance of winning titles in that format instead of best of 3? ;)

Dementieva would do well in 5 sets. If her serve would let her get to 5 sets...

Well, I knew this one guy from South Florida -- the most anti-semitic Jew I've ever known.

that'd be a real tragedy... Imagine ESPN covering Sharapova for a five setter.... that'd be terrible!!!.

a few girls would be favored with this idea, a few would be ruined

    Favored:
Clijsters, V.Williams, Justin HH, Hingis, Dulko, Penetta, Danilodou, and Seles would come back

    Screwed:
Myskina, Mauresmo, Dechy, Sujiyama and most of the Asian girls... Sanchez Vicario retires in the fourth.

I think you have to give Dementieva a big edge in 5 sets...The only person who I've seen that can hit her way into a match w/out having a serve. And believe it or not, her serve does tend to get better as matches go on. So, decided edge goes to her.

If the women went best of 5 sets at the slams...

Justine Henin-Hardenne would be huffing and puffing, bent over, cramping up everywhere ... and still beat her opponent.
