If so, I hope they ban screaming then. :D ;)

If it annoys me this much watching it on TV, can you imagine how annoying it must be to Shreikapova's opponents?

She would probably pee on the court in defiance.

I agree with breakfast of champinions, there wouldn't be a tour. A lot of them have that habit, it's beyond grunting. I've seen some women playing on the court next to us and they screamed too, but they looked like they played D2 or D3 college tennis. I've never actually seen someone scream like that besides the WTA. Quite scary, in indoor courts, her shriek would echo.

Someone invent a wta tour muzzle. I wonder how loud she would shriek when she finally hits herself in the head with that forehand over the head finish of hers.

That would be stupid of they banned screaming. Midus well not have a WTA tour if someone is going to ban screaming. If the screaming is annoying change the channel or put your TV on mute. Screaming is part of Sharapovas game.

That would give all of us some rest. We were happy to get rid of Serena, now we got some grunt for the next 10 years. I would be mean I would ask Gunter Parche to do the WTA police...

OK, but shouting obscenities at my opponent is part of my game. Why doesn't the umpire allow me to do that as that's part of my game and my winning tactic?

Nothing would change cos as we all know, she doesn't need to shriek/scream/grunt at all during a tennis match - she can play perfectly well without all that.

    I blame her shady father.

I guess Screamapova would want planes banned before they banned her from screaming.

WTA can't do much about her screaming. But handing out earplugs to the spectators is a nice gesture.

as i recall, before maria showed up, the wta championships was being played in an empty arena. now people actually show up to see the event. and it was maria they used to sell the event, not those other bow wow's.

Untrue. Women's tennis sold more seats before Sharapova than they do now. For a short while, women's tennis was even more popular than men's tennis......until, that is, Maria came along. Now the WTA Tour is really struggling.

Don't you remember the empty arenas that Sharapova played in at the year-end WTA Championships in Los Angeles last November? They literally couldn't give tickets away. Many posters here reported that the promoters tried giving tickets to anyone in the L.A. area that would take them, but still nobody wanted them. Compare that to the packed houses at the ATP year-end Championships in Shanghai last year.

Not surprising, though, as who would pay a dime to see some giant, skinny beanstalk with blond hair and zits scream her head off on a tennis court? Gives everyone a headache. How annoying!

its pretty obvious you should probably get off your fat butt and stop watching so much TV anyway. your up to nearly 7000 posts, most of which, lack any intelligence. maybe go down to the local park and try hitting a ball against the backboard. if you can do that, you've made it to square 1.

Why dont players complain? I heard that Umpires could easily warn her for doing it, all they need is a complaint.

I certainly cant stand it, she just annoys the hell out of me.

wrong theres no rule against grunting. most of the women grunt anyway. maria just happens be the one who dwarfs everyone in earnings, and game. very few of the players even care.

Theres no rule about grunting, but they can complain that its offputting. Which it is.

Im allmost certain they can complain, allthough im not sure of the technicality.

YOU'RE one to talk about posts lacking any intelligence? You've already won that award here, buddy!

Perhaps you should go back to your room and cuddle with all the Sharapova posters you've got plastered all over your walls before your mommy cuts off your Internet privileges.

Breakpoint, I do not always share your POV (actually, I often disagree with you) but I respect your passion and your arguments are well articulated IMHO. I suspect many others feel the same, so don't let anyone provoke you into mudslinging.

Just my $.02 feel free to disregard....

hahahaha i was actually thinking about that yesterday. God her forehand is SO ugly when she's rushed. Forget Roddick's serve, I don't see how her wrist isnt completely torn off by now doing that repeatedly.

i think at wimbledon they measured the level of her screeching in decibels, maybe they shud get those installed with hawkeye to outlow certain levels of yelling. i mean look guys like nadal and kuerten grunt, but this is outright screaming at the top of your lungs. theres a difference between an unconscious release of sound during a hard struck ball (i grunt sometimes, on like winners or something) but this is like constant, regardless of how poorly its hit, and i hate it when she misses cuz her screams transform into that blood curdling shriek. oh man. im generally a fan of hers, i usually want her to win and stuff, but man is my patience ever wearing thin

give it to him, what he said was cr*p.

anyways, on topic, i would hope they'd ban screaming, even though they wouldnt do that. but if they did, i would hope and pray sharapova does keep doing it, gets throw out of the tour, and then becomes my coach :D

just curious? i've heard about jelena dokic's, mary pierces, and the williams sisters fathers, doing crazy things. what exactly has yuri done to put himsef that category? he rarely talks to the press, and generally sits watches marias matches. dont think i saw him even move during plo or the nasdaq.

I wish some other WTA Pro would start mocking her during their match.

Just totally go overboard with a scream everytime she strikes the ball. And if the umpire says anything, then she has to say it to both of them.

if i were playing against her, I would wait for her to come into the net, then i would tee off on the ball and aim at her. And it would be just to bad if she caught one right in the mush:mrgreen:

She'd quit the WTA and start her own tour. And probably put the WTA out of business. Then the WTA would be back to Venus, Serena, and the bulldikes.

Saw that once, couple years ago when Maria was still new on the tour. There were complaints at that time. It didn't work . . . they both just skreeched louder and louder. It was really funny watching them try to out scream each other..

It's because she's been on TV incessantly as of late it seems, and that screaming is absolutely ridiculous and should be illegal IMHO. If she played like Hingis I might even be willing to put up with it but the screaming combined with her ugly game is just too much for this tennis fan to take. ;) LOL.

No racquet testing as I'm recuperating from an elbow injury. :(
