when i go out on the practice courts with my friends who are top 50 in the GA b14's and b16's i rally like crazy with them and we have incredible points but when i get out on court i just tense up and im afraid im gonna miss every shot i hit and i start pushing my 2nd serves which i never do in practice so im stuck in like the top 250 in Ga. anybody have a cure for this?

When you are playing just focus and think about what you need to do on all your shots.

Play more matches...Lots of sets, tie breakers etc.

I think many of us play really well when we are just hitting the ball, but everything changes when your in a match playing points.

    tennishead93,
as a poster earlier on already stated, it's all in your head, and the only one that can come by is yourself.
i would like to make you the following proposal - the next tournament match you play, you just go out there and try to play YOUR game. the reason is very simple - when you started pushing you lost. so that experience would be nothing new. if you get tense again and start pushing you will most probably be just in for another one (a loss obviously). why not try to lose the other way around - playing your game. it might sound weird, but just go out there and play your game - it's your game at which you are best. if the other one is still better, well than congratulations to him. remember that by the end of a tournament week, in a 32 draw there will be left 31 losers. just give it a try - worst thing that can happen is you just lose another match!

play to win not to lose. I know that saying is overused but if you apply it matches will have big "W"'s on them instead of L's

AND eat the right 'cereal' before the match, you'd be surprised how eating proper foods can keep you focused.

If you can't get past it by yourself, try talking to a sports psychologist if you (by which I mean your parents) can afford it... they can be really helpful.

Cereal, where in TX are you located. I see your a SuperChamp..........which means your probably a bit better than myself, but if your close we could go hit sometime. I was a champ in 14's but just aged up to 16's.............yet to play a tournament in 16's.

I'm in The Woodlands (near Houston), but I go out there quite a bit.......well used to when I was ranked higher, once I get back up to a champ I'll tell you and try and say hey at a tournament. Theres are two kids at my school whom are SC in 16's, dunno if you would know them......Austin Mallet and Jeff Chang, both are pretty decent.

Yeah, he's doing an ITF qualifier this weekend and he's most likely going to get that, so you probably won't see him for awhile.

    That's cool though.

I've never played them but i've seen Robert Anderson play. I talked to Kenneth in Valdosta in my last tournament though.
I think my academy traveled to where Kenneth practices, the one in Augusta.
