Anyone else like this?
Where do you live? Winter can very much so have a major effect of your mind and body, much like they way rainy weather can make old injuries rear up... like a bad knee...
I think I might know what you mean. Cleveland weather this time of year really takes a toll on me.
Seasonal affective disorder. (perhaps justly abbreviated to S.A.D.) Go see a doctor.
Melatonin deficiency from lack of sunlight. People in the northern hemispheres are much more likely to get it as they have the least amount of sunlight during winter days.
Most people don't get full blown Seasonal effective disorder, but more of a 'Winter Blues'. Some stats show 15% of people in far northern climates get a type of 'Winter Blues'.
The treatment options are the same in either case, as they both originate from the same source.
Get a light therapy lamp, sometimes called day light lamp.
I would avoid going on prescription medication like SSRI. Just go down to sears or walmart and buy a Light therapy lamp. It recreates natural sunlight.
I concur ... winter gets very depressing. At least the sun made an appearance today, though. Haven't seen much of it since October.
Between the winter blues, the holiday madness, and another year ending ... yes, I frequently get "sad" this time of year. But then I take the time to recall the blessings and hope I have in Jesus, and it lifts my spirits. (Not trying to be preachy, but rather just relating my own personal experience.)
Hey I feel ya this year, my studies prevent me from going anywhere, all my friends are out of town, my family is on vacation, and to top it off, being single dosent help that much either.
Oh well.....it cant rain all the time. The sun will come out again, so let make make it a good one this year.
I know what you mean... The time from the 26th December untill February are pretty strange.
The winter effect mentioned by SirBlend12 could be true I suppose, funny thing is that I love the winter weather! The pretty frosty mornings, warm clothes, snow etc.. Seems strange to think it could be what makes me feel a bit weird.
Didn't know that about vitamin D. Now a song my friends made (poundsign sf indie band) makes sense. lol.
do you mean from new years? It makes me feel bad too, well with new years eve it depends if i'm currently in a relationship with a girl i truly love or not. if i spend new years by myself 'n just think about the goals u didnt accomplish throughout the year its inevitable that you will be depressed but if you think about all the things you accomplished and most of all that you are healthy & overall think positively you will feel a lot better.
it could be the weather like everybody else is saying too. actually pk-12th grade schools are cold for a reason, studies have shown that kids are less "wild" and keeps them more controllable when they are cold, i read this in a magazine years ago. so get some sun, drink some hot cocoa and listen to some good music or just go play some tennis and you will feel better. no need to see a dr or anything.
play more tennis!
yes yes yes.
soak up some sun, helps me.
