Djokovic and by some margin. He already has a 2000 point advantage over Federer. Fed would have to gain 2000 MORE points than Djokovic to end the year ranked 1st, for example:

Win Basel, Paris, WTF (yeah, right...) = 3000 poins clear
Since Djokovic ain't playing in Basel, he could at most (in this scenario) lose in the final of Paris and WTF which is a total of 1600 points. Not enough for him to drop in the rankings.

As much as I want Fed to end the year ranked 1st, he's not doing it.

Losing in WTF final is 400 points i think not 1000! There is something likw undefeated tourney winner also who gets 1000 or sth!

The only way Federer can take #1 is if he wins WTF, Paris and Djokovic totally bombs at the WTF losing 2/3 of his RR matches.

You asked if Djokovic lost in the final, it's pretty much 800 or 1000 points for the losing finalist as it's hard to advance to the semis with only 1 win (has happened tho but not often).

You get 200 points for each RR win (so 200, 400 or 600 points going into the semis), 400 for a semi-final win, +500 for a final win.

Back to the OP's "...and he will!" ;)

So, from here, Federer has to collect 3000 points (win Paris, London and Basel) before the end of the season. On the other hand, Djokovic needs 756 points in Paris + London.

    Possible for Federer...

If I were you, I would also be concerned that he may finish at #3 this year since Murray is defending 180 points and is definitely playing his best tennis...

Possible that Federer may finish as #3, but that has about as much chance of happening now as Federer has of finishing #1. Murray will lose 400 pts for his runner up performance leaving his total at 7690 while Fed picks up 360 leaving him at 12165. I'm assuming Murray doesn't play Valencia or Basel, but even if he does Fed would have to play terrible, and Murray would have to win everything like Fed did last year.

Undefeated WTF winner gets 1500 points. Fed has won WTF 6 times, it's one of his favorite events, so he can do it no doubt. It will still be tough for him to stay #1 if Djoko fares well.

Yes, my OP is dead. Federer didn't play that well, Murray played very well and that's that. I thought Fed would be pumped to go for the whole enchilada and finish the year #1. He kind of looked like he was just having one of those days--a very bad one. The most noticeable thing was the sluggish movement. He's moved beautifully for most of the year. That and the shocking serving sealed his fate. Oh well.

If I were you I'd be concerned with my station in life with such prophetic abilities. It would be a waste if you weren't a billionaire AT LEAST.

Don't feel too bad; at least you were brave enough to post a prediction; the odds were always stacked against Roger anyway due to his superb run late last year, :)
