Is it just me or does everyone else have the same problem...you see a shoe you like and buy only to find that the sizing is way off?

I have a size 13 foot. Not wide - heel somewhat narrow.

Barricades, Asics, all CB's I tried before 4.3 are way too small in 13...toes crammed. Adidas even introduced 13.5 (I had been asking for YEARS) and my toes touch the end.

    I'm swimming in AMC 13's.

Then every with every new introduction the sizing changes - sometimes drastically.

To top it all off...4.3 13's fit pretty well and the lacing system is crap.

Now...before you say anything else...my Clarks, Merrell, and Johnston Murphy casual/dress shoes all work in size 13. Why can't a tennis shoe manufacturer keep up with the QC??

It doesn't bother me. As a rule of thumb my athletic shoes (excluding soccer cleats) are one full size larger than my dress shoes as they fit smaller due to more padding plus I'm wearing thicker socks. Find the shoe you like, such as the Barricade, and buy it in a size 14. Stick with the same type and you'll know for future to buy a 14. Should be an easy solution.

I've been shopping for new tennis shoes this week, and I've tried a few on. There is no question sizing is not consistent. A couple of shoes my size fit ok and a couple of others pinched at the big toe. For that reason I have to try on....and would never order on line no matter how good the deal. What's going on this season, the outdoor season is winding down in northern climes, but most tennis shoes I've seen are still full retail.

FWIW - There's a local tennis store in DC that examines the shoes for sizing variations and they do a running shoe store type fitting for shoe size and foot type for this reason.

Just wondering, do you wear a size 13? Going up another size to a 14 -

A: Makes it harder to find shoes as size 13's can be pretty scarce on occasion if you go to a store to try them on

B: Will be really lose unless you are wearing 2 pairs of very thick socks.

I wear a size 13. I find most the shoes I buy for tennis also fit in a 13, but I need to try them on and be open-minded about brands and models to find a good fit.

The Prince T22's fit me well and more recently the Babolat SFX seems to fit fairly well.

Ah good point, I'm a size 12 not 13 which sure helps with selection. That said, he could order some B8s from TW in a 13, 13.5 and 14 (which are in stock) and then try each on to what fits best and keep that pair. Shipping to and fro is free and he could order another pairs online since he knows his size.

But as you say, each shoe type fits differently, and above a 13 it must pay to not be too brand specific. I've been through a bunch myself, but keep returning to the Barricade as nothing compares to its durability.

I'd thought about ordering multiple pairs online, but I'd have to check the return policy.

I usually buy from a store first then keep ordering the same shoe online.

True. I'm surprised to see Fed's Vapors from his after-Wimby clay court swing still at full price. I did get a pair though :)
