    Sadly, it's very likely over.

Of course he says that, to take some pressure off himself. Fed is too good, anyway.

It started out to be a good match. I was watching it at the hotel, and now I wonder why I bothered to come over here. I should have headed home.

Great winner by James then. But Fed isn't going to let this go to a fourth set. It's too bad.

Hey, if Blake was a 7.0 player, there is no way Fed is a 7.0 also. I would say Fed plays like a 8.0 if Blake is a 7.0

    What do you think?

Looks like Roger is on his way to his 9th Masters series title, barring injury he will surpass Pete's 11th.

I am actually ashamed of myself for even thinking about Fed allowing Blake to take a set.

This is ridiculous. Rafa had it right yesterday when he said that Blake can beat Fed if he believes he can. He looked like he had that belief in the first set. Now it's gone.

So I am guessing that you were cheering for Blake so that Nadal again lost a "hot streak" tournament winner like Clement. Well, doesn't look like that will happen this time.

Also, thank you for any inside info you post here. It helps for the people here who can't see those matches live.

I was hoping for a good match. I really didn't care who would win. But to be very honest, if a red-hot Blake can't give Fed a match, no one can. Except for one teen, perhaps????

I'm glad you appreciate the inside info. I'm not going to post it here any longer, though. The Ritchies of the world can go over to my Kool-Aid Drinkers fan site and read it, if they want it. But I do have a cute Marcos story I'm going to post there.

    Fed just won. *yawn*

Roger wins Indian Wells, defeats James Blake, 7-5, 6-3, 6-0, his 9th Masters series title and has a 3-peat at Indian Wells.

No he played fine -- he just didn't believe he could beat Fed after the first set. He believed he could beat Rafa. There was the difference.

I'm not saying James would have won. But it could have been closer.

Hey Vamos, seriously after Roger woke up in that first set, he had no shot, his confidence went down and Roger started putting pressure on him.

Boring is what I call it. Can't wait for the women's doubles final. At least I'll get home earlier than planned.

It was a great week. And congrats to Roger. He deserved the win. :D

In all seriousness -- putting the Deuces and Ritchies aside -- going to a tournament is wonderful. It's addicting. I can only do it a few times a year, because I do have a life, believe it or not. I have to work to pay for the travel. I highly recommend it, if you get the opportunity, though. :D

Blake played him even for 15 games. He went mano e mano. After which Federer went into another gear.

Overall, for Blake, the tournament was a positive.

I said the match was boring -- I didn't say Roger's tennis was boring. There's a difference. *rofl* Actually I thought the first set was exciting.

But if I had known it would end so quickly, I'd be the I-10 heading home already.

But I'm going to have lunch with a friend and then head out. Guess I'm going to miss the scintillating women's doubles final. :D

James Blake played well considering he had a long match yesterday and was playing RF today. Having said that, I suspect his fitness. It takes more endurance to win at the top because your emotions are at full boil and will drain you as much as the running. Anyone who has played even college tennis knows the feeling.

The downside to this match is that Blake didn't look very good after the first 45 minutes. Let's hope he can, nonetheless, give American tennis another big shot in the arm in the future. He's a class act and deserves to be at the top in my view.

Blake needs to get some self-confidence and actually believe that he's good enough to beat Roger Federer. Once the doubts entered his head at 4-1, up two breaks, in the 1st set, everythng came crumbling down. Perhaps a sports psychiatrist would help him.

That's my assessment of the match. To him, getting to the final is good enough. When in fact he had the ability to give Roger more of a match.

Ace, I'm not sure. I have to recover from this tournament before I think about the next one. But I think Rafa won't play before Friday.

And the people on our Messageboard will know. Just check over there and ask.

Anyway, I'm hitting the road. Women's doubles is very exciting, but I'll take a pass this week. :D

I agree Blake is a class act. I admire his game style as well as his personality. However, as far as him being the top of US tennis player, well, that basically means it is his turn to take over from A-Rod and Agassi as Fed's beeyach.

So the question now is, what can Blake learn from Nadal on how to beat Fed...

Really wanted Blake to win this one, although I knew I was asking for a miracle. Oh it burns it burns. Better luck next week, maybe Nadal will do him a favor and take out Fed.

Blake needs a bigger serve to challenge roger. I really don't see a way out of federer's trapbox for blake with his game. Roger's significantly better in all aspects of the all-court game than Blake, except the serve.

No matter what Blake can learn strategy wise, he doesn't have the loopy lefty forehand to hit to Fed's backhand, which is mainly what's giving Roger trouble.

Huh? I was just thinking it seems like Blake did Fed a favor by taking out Nadal, so maybe Nadal would be doing Blake a favor by taking out Fed.

I was thinking this too, but it's numerically impossible now as long as Fed is #1 and Nadal is #2 (except at Wimbledon, where Fed would win anyway). In other words, Blake can only meet one of them in a tournament because if both are entered, they will always be on opposite sides of the draw. Blake will simply have to figure out how to beat Fed on his own.

One of Roger's nicknames should be "The Demoralizer". He just sucked all the energy out of Blake AND the crowd when came back and took that 1st set away after being down two breaks. You could just see a complete change in Blake's expression and body language.

Oh yeah, I forgot that for a minute. Dang, well guess Blake will just have to suck it up the way Roddick does unless he comes up with a way to beat Fed.
