I disagree about the choking. She got robbed by a bad call at 4-2 which would have given her the lead. She should have won the match 6-2 in the second. NO CHOKING involved in this match. The volleys and slices from Maria were good to see too.

For those who didn't see the match don't be fooled by the score. It was an 1 1/2 hour contest. It seems as if the final score should have been 7-6 7-6.

Dr. Hingis really went into the bag of tricks. She took off pace. Put on pace. She put Maria through the grind. She hit a few 100 mph serves. Played superb defense. Heck she even threw in a couple of moonballs. She played an excellent match.

Problem was Maria played a fantastic match! She was not to be denied.
She put the pressure on Hingis with ground strokes. Did a good job on defense. Played her A+1. And never had a let down.

I was pulling for Martina. But the best player won.

Good effort from both players. Dr. Hingis has nothing to be ashamed of.

    You're welcome.

In this match Dr. Hingis remained me of Agassi. In order to beat him one has to play their A game. Maria had to do that to get past Hingis.

I just enjoyed the tennis, did not care who won. The points were structured and the big hitter came out on top. A high quality match, one of the best woman’s match this year.

sounds like Hingis didnt expolit Maria's weak wide forehand. When thats exploited she hits a boatload of errors of that side.
