since Jolly has taken a hiatus from posting, i'll fill you guys in with the details of my mere mortal existence.
went to the GBBQOAT this past sunday courtesy of W, and shared in this feast with dennis, ali, the immortal V, and the one who is jolly, and may i say went ate splendidly.
i took some of the delicious leftover baked ziti, swedish meatballs, egg rolls home and put them in my refrigerator sunday night.
monday i went to the ike to see the 4.5 teams match and hit with dennis a little bit, then went to jerichowestbury to watch V's match, so i grabbed some burger king while waiting for the match to start and then got home too late to eat dinner.
when i went down to the kitchen this morning, my dad complimented me on how good the leftovers in the applebee's containers were.
    i opened the fridge.
    they were gone.
my dad said that he, my mom, and sister ate them last night for dinner.
i died a little on the inside.

While I found Pickle's post absolutely riveting, I subscribed to this thread in hopes of tracking the journey of LI's J-Rog, Tennis Pirate Extraordinaire. Come on J-Man, throw us a bone! What about that update on mixed doubles you promised??? ;) BHBH

I thought Jolly did provide update on his last Mixed Doubles match of the season.

Pickles, I'm sorry for your lost.

I ate half of mine late last nite after the matches. The rest will go into my belly soon.

Jolly did attend the BBQ but ate little, Mrs. Jolly commented that Jolly has been getting fat and that they can't afford to keep on buy larger clothes for him. Jolly had a 32" waist before UDC, and now he has balloned up to 54". He still has a long ways to match my prodigious girth, for yours truly broke a chair at W's on sunday.

Jolly rarely plays tennis, last weekend he went doily shopping with Mrs. Jolly. It is all very sad to think that generations of young TW posters do not know the living legend, Jolly the Pirate.

so i went to the orthopedist today to get my wrist checked out, which i originally hurt playing golf, but which has bothered me while hitting.

sprained triangular fibrocartilage complex ligament. have to wear a brace for two weeks.

    bummer.

especially since jolly lent me a wrist wrap that seemed to work pretty well as i was able to hit pain-free with dennis a little while on monday.

most have been the "jolly juice" it was covered in, seepin' down to the bone like 'tussin.

meanwhile, day 14 of being a unemployed recent college graduate has brought no further future endeavors.

combined with no tennis for the foreseeable future, life's looking pretty sh*tty. if things don't pick up soon i'm gonna have to knock over a bank or something to maintain my high maintenance lifestyle.

I have 3 weeks left to rest from tendinitis in my wrist. So I feel you pain man. Been riding my bike a lot and exploring different areas. Really makes it easier to have another good exercise to do so you don't go nuts.

Every day that passes with jolly being UDC, hope that he will return to his old ways of pillaging and plundering on and off the tennis court diminishes.

I'm not saying to give up hope... but don't expect any miracles.

There is very little chance that Jolly will come back. He called me the other day, asking me advice about lawning mowing equipment and where to buy the best plaid polyester high riser shorts? He confessed that he had sinned in his youth by trying to hit the cover off the ball and that in his dottage he is going around pleading with the juniors to just caress the ball over the net with kindness and love. They usually call security and have him escorted out of the clubs.

He told me that the weather is still too cold for him to be outside without his lap blanket and that maybe when July comes around and the weather is warmer, he'll come by the park in his velour track suit, drink his Ensure meal replacement drink and sermonize us about his wasted youth, how it is never too late and lead everyone in singing "Amazing Grace".

Yeah jolly pretty much washed up. He'll never again reach the heights of success he achieved in previous crusader years.

Does he even have enough money for 20 new sticks?

You really thinking of switching to the prestige mid? I like those a lot, just not really suited to my game.

What do you think of the blx 95 6.1 non pro staff? Thats my main squeeze now, and seems like a stick you could do damage with. Geat for big baseline play.

Started out 2012 with a loss tonight in 9.0. 2&4. But the Giants won, and I had a tasty burger, and many beers, so all in all a good day.

My serve is about half way there, volleys are ok, groundies are good. Return was hot and cold in first set, great in 2nd set. I poached a lot, and was mostly successful.

Match was at my least favorite club, far the heck away, odd lighting, and Har-Tru that the ball really doesn't bounce up on. Dry, thick, and sandy. A very odd playing surface.

Back is a little sore, but I did a lot of serve and volley practicing yesterday. So that is to be expected. Will see how it feels in the morning.

2hbh return was nice, even though I was using the BLXPS and its damnable tiny grip.

I missed one easy volley, and missed one overhead terribly, but other than that played pretty cleanly. Also wasn't quite as sharp on half volleys as I have been in recent weeks, but I went on a nice run over the past two weeks and was due to come back down to my usual level of forecourt play.

Considering today a success, and rewarding myself with a nice Beaujolais nouveau.

Back still a little sore this morning, but wouldn't stop me from playing a tournament. Loosened up after the shower, should be no problem.

I might or might not hit tonight. Next scheduled practice is Wed.

jolly can also get rated back to 5.0 after this season as well. but I do think he will do better at 4.5 than open or 5.0.

There was an Indiana Jolly siting tonight and I'd post pictures but no one would believe me and I would be ridiculed for poasting doctored pics of the likes of Sasquatch and the tooth fairy.

    Bummer.

And JD, snap out of it, it's almost euro chick tourist season!

Jolly Man, when's your next tourney?
I'm in the Cunningham next week.
Looks like you hit a lot of days per week, I'd love to come out and join you on the Island one day. I work from home when not traveling and could get a car or the LIRR. You do any workouts during the day?
    Let me know, thanks,
