There are many many people that can't stand little chips on the brand new expensive phone out of the box(including in this forum). They are not OCd as you put it. That is why many of us don't even use the phone til we have a good protective case in hand. I am a Perfectionist so i personally would return it for another one.

No you are an annoyance who is trolling as usual. You already have a phone and are just trying to find anything wrong you can with other people's for some reason. If the worst thing about my i5 is that it has a small scratch then I will be quite happy.

I don't care about that stuff. My racquets have scratches too. I'd buy a used one..who cares. Man up.

I opened up my iPhone 5 to apply lead tape at 12 / 3 / 9 and inside was a note from one of the Foxconn workers that said l was holding the GPOAT in my hands and to enjoy it and not worry about the really mean people hating on it.

Thank you Johnny Wong. I sure wish there was some way I could let you know that I am GPOATing and your message made it to me like a cosmic ray of dawn.

Yes. I'm actully returning my iPhone 5 today for a Galaxy SIII. I hear that ICS for the GS2 really wasn't friendly for the OS at all.

Just got my shipping information. My iPhone 5 should be here on Monday. Then I will go into my zombie Apple fan boy trance and walk around drooling and texting.

its ok for a phone to weigh somewhat. It tells you that you have substance. what i meant was size wise. i didn't notice any change in size. then i looked at Galaxy S3 next to it and i said, Wow, why would anyone buy the iphone ?

Right because size is everything with phones..lol. You continue to make fail posts.

I cant wait to size down a little - my EVO has a huge screen.

I promise you guys I will do another screen to screen test today, but I did that with my EVO LTE versus the S3, and I found my screen to be better. I tried my coworkers i5 against my EVO and the i5 has the deepest and richest screen I have ever seen. the EVO holds its own, but it does not have the depth and detail.
Maybe it is my imagination, but I dont think so. The anadtech review verifies my opinion.

Every single phone new high end phone right now has a killer screen. But when someone tries to compare the s3 to the i5 the way Fedace is, it leads me to believe he has never seen the iphone5 or has serious eye issues. That and other comments he has made are a showcase in trolling and simply making things up.

The iphone 4s really blew me away with its video. I had my new evo and was doing video comparisons against the 4s with a friend of mine. I did not expect the 4s to have such great video but it was easily as good as my much newer phone. So I am excited to see how the i5 video looks.

A white iphone probably. It is smaller and white seems like a nice chic paint job.

The s3 and EVO are large. I have had more than 1 girl ask if mine is a tablet and say it's too big. I would agree, it fits in my hand just fine, but when it is in my pocket it is cumbersome.

Droids are much more geared to tech people in my experience.

I hate the widgets and multiple screens to scroll through personally. I have everything on 2 pages in my ipad, and I find the iOS to be extremely easy for a non tech person to use.

Throw a pink case on top of a white iPhone to maximize the girly factor. I have everthing in folders on my iPhone. It is all available with 1 tap on the first screen. I don't do the multiple screen thing.

I have a new favourite feature - panorama photos.

In the past I've used Photosynth, which did a reasonable job but was a bit fiddly. Panorama in iOS 6 is sooooo smooth. It's one of those pieces of software where you think 'Well, of course that's how it works; how else would you do it?'

And just in case we have any Apple fan bois, or Applebots, or whatever you're called in this thread: as today is the anniversary of Steve's death, Apple have put a video tribute that automatically plays when you visit the website. But if you're a fan boi, you'd already know about that.

No, I only go after people who go after other people just because they use Apple products. I said right away that both products have their good and bad points. The Android is far from perfect but I got a sweet deal on one and so I'm giving it another try. I'm not someone who rags on others for the phones they chose to use like you are.

See the difference there is that I am absolutely againt Motorola's/ Verizons Droid line. I think their software is junk. Samsung's Android software is generally good and doesn't get bogged down the Droid stuff doesThere are quite a few features that I like and I'm willing to check it out since the price is right.

    Yea Ok...

I'll disregard the inaccuracies in your post and try to keep the discussion substantial.

So price point was your main reason to switch, or did you have some other problem with the Iphone besides expense?

I have it in my hand. Its a magical, mythical beast. Dloaded all my apps already and imported my contacts. It is so freaking responsive and fast.

When I was driving from the store I just used Siri. I asked it to take me to the tennis warehouse forums. It pulled up tt from the request in literally no time. No hitches or anything. I literally have the phone with emails and contacts totally set up already..it took such little time..wow..goating.

Im staring at this thing like its a hot girl..lol. Cant put it down..major honeymoon phase happening.

This is a big reason why I like the device...its so damn so easy to manage. Trust me, I spent 15 years dealing with .IPD files and and Blackberry BBSAK Java reload white screen 503 wiping and drama trauma that it amazes me that Apple has made it so easy.

I don't see anything wrong or unmanly with admitting that as well. I make a good living as a technical whoar in the city so I'm tackling epic IT issues daily but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the effortless smooth beauty of the iPhone.

I hated Apple for years. I still will not buy an Apple desktop or laptop. Although I want one to start checking out iOS appdev.

I am really glad I am now using an iPhone.

I spent alot of time with my friend's S3 and there is simply no comparison in my opinion.

Anyhoo, this speck case is beautiful but I'm weary of the weight, need more bulk. But its such a sick case...

Sounds good! I just wish an iPhone worked the way I wanted it to. It would be nice to have options when coming to make a decision, although I suppose i'm lucky in that Android do have alot of phone options.

My iphone does timestamp my texts..at least it does the first one and then shows the time of the last..I get what you mean..im still figuring it out, but i am so happy. this is what I wanted from a phone all along. SPEEEED.

for some reason this keyboard is easier to use than the droid. I can one hand text with my thumb..the voice to text is warp speed..blissss

Haha yeah, it always seems to for the first one. My girlfriend ordered some clothes off the internet and wanted me to message her the pictures earlier when they arrived. I iMessaged her them off the iPad and had a conversation of 6-7 messages over an hour or so, the only timestamp on the conversation was the first one. Really weird!

Glad you're enjoying it, no doubt it's a pretty special phone.

blown away..if something bothers me about ill post..im not a fanboy.

The sound on this thing..wow..so loud..I cant max it out like I can the droid with Beats. I am rocking spotify and this thing sounds awesome...new headphones are rather comfy.

Seriously, this was a no brainer for me..final test..head home and see if verizon delivers the reception at my place.

You'll adjust to the speed after a few days, but every once in a while it will really blow you away. Any time you have to do 3-4 things at once, the speed is insane. I remember texting with two friends, with one we were looking at a place for dinner and movie times and one I was talking to about a flight. I was consistently moving between Yelp, Flixster, Messages, Kayak and Safari, and doing it all rapid fire. The phone never stuttered or slowed, it just ripped through the apps. I was on my home WiFi, so a good data connection obviously helps as well.

On my old phone that would have taken 20 minutes, but it was so much faster and easier. I've yet to throw anything at the phone that's slowed it down, and I'm starting to wonder if there's anything I can do to slow it down.

Agree with this. Swype is money, and if I'm just typing, I miss it. Voice to text on my old phone was awful though, and I find myself using voice to text all the time now when I'm at home.

You have a potential problem. Without an Apple PC, you will have to do some Windows hacks to get XCode to run for iOS development. After fighting my MS Access "upgrade" at work today, I look forward to using my dumbed down Mac and iPhone.

That autoomobile review is awful. It says exactly what im talking about.."more cores, s3 must be better!!". Its not nearly as fast and doesnt benchmark on the same level. You cant compare phones on paper anymore unless they are they same os because the os is everything.

Well regardless they are sweet phones..im just extremely pleased with the product apple is putting out. Never had a phone respond so incredibly fast. Lets see how it does a few weeks from now, but day 1 its not even a contest for what i need.

I need to tweak a few things still but for the most part it is a super easy setup..really loving how good the audio is on this thing.

I feel so sexi now. I'm going to be up in your neck of the woods over Thanksgiving for some dumb parade. Since it is a big family outing, don't know if I'll be "allowed" to bring a racket with me. I can lobby for that down the road though...

Ok so I have spent a lot of time with this phone, even made my own ringtone with garageband..lol.

One thing that rattled me is no led lights blinking upon emails or missed texts/calls. But I set up my notifications so when I get a text the screen turns on, which works.

Right there huge difference - with the droid, the lag when the screen turns on from a text it is truly annoying. It is just not nearly as fast and zippy. I can swipe in and voice to text my friends back SO fast with the i5. The droid with all its dual cores is just not as fast. I have used voice to text so much and if you do, just go iphone because it is super fast. The funny thing is that the ROMS they made for droid could not turn the screen on fast enough so most people are hacking their phones backwards to turn that function off. Whereas the i5 just turns on instantly right out of the box. I will never jailbreak this phone. There is no need to.

Also, using Jellybean and the google answer to siri, it is just not as fast or developed. It basically is kind of stalkerish and gives you updates from what you type in your phone that are not even relevant sometimes. Where as SIRI is a very easy shortcut for me that hears my voice better. You can do the basic stuff like ask what the weather is, or say "text john whats up today" and it just does it for you with no delay. That is really the secret or why even use it. A function like this has to be fast and smooth or it is a waste of time. So while I have told siri to call me by my first name and all the novel things, the main attraction for me is the speed and simplicity. For example there is something on tomorrow that I want to watch but will probably forget. So I just asked it to set a reminder to watch it and its done. A reminder will pop up at the time of the event tomorrow. So if you are not the most organized person this is extremely helpful since it is so insanely easy and fast to do.

I like the keyboard a lot. I used swype and swiftkey before, and while those were great I dont find myself missing them. I can text with my thumb..it is just easy and fast to text..no lag..no hitches.

Battery life..I took the phone down to 1% and then charged it up to 100%...went to bed with the phone off the charger and the phone was down to 96%. That is exceptional. My new droid would drop to 80% at least in sleep mode.

It is at 85% right now and so far looks to be an excellent battery.

Huge difference in apps like facebook and instagram. I mean it is unfair. If somone has an S3 ask them to open facebook. It is a joke how slow that thing opens up, but on the i5 I was blown away..it is so much faster that its laughable. Instagram is a far better experience as well as it has more options and is faster and easier to use. So if you are into social apps, the iphone is a clear winner.

I wont even get into the web browser because it is not even close..super fast and responsive.

For those who say it is the new network (I am equally impressed with verizon, it makes sprint look like a huge joke..do not waste your money on sprint. I honestly can not believe the reception I was missing out on), I did all these comparisons on the same wifi connection.

Basically I cant imagine going back to droid after this. I have 1 screen and everything is on it with room to spare. No more rooting around looking for an app or waiting for google to load..etc.

I would like to have data while I have voice, but I am usually on the phone at my place and on wifi so I still get my texts in that situation. So it is not a huge deal, but obviously I will be excited when verizon sets up their LTE to the point where both can be done. I made the sacrifice though because verizons coverage is so amazing that I get reception literally anywhere. My phone would roam in my apt on sprint and get 1 bar with att. Verizon, it has full bars so i dont miss calls or have drops and garbled conversations anymore.

You can also ask Siri to launch an app. I use the syntax 'Launch ...', though I'm sure there are various permutations that work. It also works for music with 'Play ...'. I use that quite a bit: you can do it when the phone is locked, which is when you save the most time.

If you listen to music a fair bit, it's also worth knowing that when the phone is locked you can access the play/pause functionality by double tapping the Home button. I employ that a lot in the office when people come up to me and start talking before I've even taken my headphones out.

What do you guys with the 5 think of the new headphones? The old ones were always very mediocre, so I've used Shure's for years. Anything revolutionary with these, or are they still blown away by specialist brands (which is what I'd expect at the price point, but you never know)?
