Is Head consistent with their quality control?

Today at the store I swung in my hands a few Head Youtek IG Prestige models today - Mid, Midplus and S - and they didn't swing comparatively according to their specs.

Description Strung Weight Headlight Swing Weight
    ----------- -------------- ---------- -------------
    Head YIP Midplus 337 6 310
    Head YIP S 323 3 315
    Head YIP Mid 349 7 317

The Mid and Midplus were heavier than the S model, and I found the differenc quite significant.

The S model felt the lightest, and quite a bit lighter than the other two at that.

Now I look up the specs and there is no way that the Midplus or Mid are that close in swing weight to the S model. No way.

So my question is does Head have quality control issues?

I bought two different Extreme Pro 2.0's at different times, from different places, and they were almost exact matches. Just a gram or two difference in weight.

But, from my home test, which obviously isn't exact, the SW measured out a bit higher than the specs. Still, from my experience, no complaints here.

They are just as bad as everyone else. Made in china. Specs all over the place. If you care about specs, call tw and get them specced

There is a reason why pros customize.

If you need a particular weight, swingweight and balance, than you should buy light and learn the ways of lead.

If you spec enough racquets, you will learn that specs are all over the place. If you don't believe me, spec a few more...

As far as I know Head are still using three suppliers to produce their "high end" models, so unless you get matching racquets, more importantly from the same factory, you are behind the eight ball. Still Head is better than most, Dunlop change suppliers like dirty underwear and always look for a cheaper option. It's dare I say a "Crap shoot" as far as their QC goes. ;-)

Racquets have been made in China for a long time by all companies except Yonex and yet there was still a huge variation amongst companies for quality control. Stop repeating what others say without thinking. Quality control has more to do with the requirements of the company than where it's made. Fischer had amazing QC even when the racquets were made in China. I ran a pro shop for awhile. 10 years ago, the worst QC was Wilson, Prince and Babolat. Head is far and away the best of the top 3/4 companies. Depending on how picky you are, it may be necessary to match specs.

It's not too bad... when I used to play with Prestige MP, I got those two rackets at a different time, different place. It played the same for me...

Fixed that for you. And I have a pair of these, lucky me to have found a matched pair.

Just go with Yonex, better racquets, better quality control.

^Or Pacific. At least weight and balance are here consistently.
