Is it just me or does the RG poster suck?

I wonder if they hold a contest for the ugliest painting and pick the winner for the poster. What the hell are those horrendous mouths and teeth supposed to mean in the context of RG ? Jeez !

The 2012 one looks like something from a bubble gum wrapper.

The picture was actually painted by Mats Wilander.

It depicts a young Rafa stepping on Feds balls.

Well spotted. All three posters are very stylish and very different. They obviously provoke different reactions, but that means theyre being noticed. Can't say that for the other Slams.

    Awesome.
The 3 eyes and 2 open mouths are like the 5 circles of the Olympics. But I am sure all of you are aware of the symbolism used.

Absolute genius, like that of Raphael.

It really looks like a post-war Holocaust memorial piece.

Eyes and mouths - watching and shouting.

Two biggest organs used at a tennis event by spectators?

In 30 years as an adult, he or she can call it avant-garde postmodernism and make a bunch of money for it.

I think you are all missing something fatal here.

You may say the poster is awful, but in relation to the tournament itself - it is absolutely perfect.

Childish, dull and boring (the poster's not great either)

    I like it!

    [EDIT]

Kind of makes me think of a totem pole wearing a scarf and sporting an erection though.

if its 1981 it could be anyone from this angle...

Borg, hana mandlikova, Mcenroe, Andrea Jaeger..(and so on).

hello 84'3% of the tour in 1981 to who this could be, or the dulux dog, or 'Digby the biggest dog in the world'.

The reference to bullfights is actually not funny.

Read the whole thread, and thought the posters were awful at the beginning, but they've grown on me :)

If you look at it closely, you can tell no pre-schooler could have drawn that.
