Is it worrisome for Djokovic that his best form almost not beat Nadal on hardcourt?

Nadal would have to feel confident that he'd beat Djokovic at a hardcourt slam if they meet, because without even serving well he almost beat Djokovic when Djokovic was on the greatest roll of his career!1

I think Nadal should be worried that he keeps getting his behind spanked by Djokovic on hardcourts. And even more worried that he was exhausted after only 2 1/2 sets. How is he going to beat Djokovic in a best of 5 set match?

It's kind of hard to be worried when Djokovic always beat Nadal on hardcourts before 2010 US Open anyway, so the message is Nadal is supposed to lose to Djokovic in best of 3 sets on hardcourt but will win when they meet in slams. It'd be abnormal if Nadal starts beating Djokovic in the non-slams too!1

Nadal should be ashamed for not winning Miami. The courts were ridiculously slow on a very hot day where he had to face a fatiqued King. Everything favoured Nadal and yet he still he couldn't get the job done. What a failure.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner!

This should be more of a celebration thread. Nadal_slam_king, back in the days also known as "theRAFA", owner of famous accounts such as "NadalwonUSO09" and "NadalwonCYGS", successfully continues his journey through alt accounts and alt personas... Let's hear some applause!2

Nah, none of them played too great, except for mental.
The confidence increases on Djoko's side only.

Djokovic didn't play his best either, and Miami is slower than some clay courts.

Besides, how is Nadal going to hit winners against Djokovic on clay when he struggles to do it in Indian Wells / Miami?

But its pretty obvious at the US Open that the pace helps Nadal because it makes his shots even bigger weapons (flat shots), so its a myth that he likes slow hardcourts. Nadal hates the Australian Open compared to US Open!1

IMO US Open 2010 is about the equal of Federer's 2007 AO, the last performance of his kind (over the span of a hardcourt tournament).

Also, Djokovic has bigger, flatter shots. On forehand, backhand, return, and serve. The US Open final was a case of Nadal playing as good as he can (and being extremly confident) and a Djokovic that played below his best.

When Nadal uses a fast surface with his topspin shots (which he flattens out a bit more) it becomes more dangerous than Djokovic's shots because its a combo of vicious topspin and extreme power, and that's why Nadal beat Djokovic in the US Open Final. This is the start of Nadal's best years on hardcourts!1

Pretty much all of this is wrong. But we'll see soon enough.

I got the feeling that this could be the year where Nadal ends up without RG and either Rome/Madrid.

At miami djokovic was an UE machine in the first set and nadal was strugelling but is set 2 and 3 no problem for novak besides how do you describe djokovic form at IW or Miami his best he just beat mugs on his way to both finals then took care of nadal as simple as that and if you want to see djokovic best form watch montreal 2007 or ao 2008 for me he played his best in these two tournaments.

Nadal is simply not in the same league has Djoker on HC. The facts bear that out. Let's face it, USO10 was pretty much a fluke.

You should not use that match as an example, it was pretty horrible.
Saw it live and still regret spending money for it.

    Yeah.

The year before Nadal and Djokovic tortured me with their worst-ever encounter, I had some of the best seats in the house and they played like sh1t.

At least it made me feel better about my own game :D

You've got to admit if Djokovic's all-time best form only JUST beats Nadal he's got some problems not just on clay/grass but US Open too when Nadal is likely to serve better!1

It's hardly like the pressure of expectation is on Djokovic to beat Nadal on clay or grass.

Uh, uh, uh, what made you stop there? Did you forget the AO11, IW, Miami? Bottom line is Djoker was a different player since the AO11 started. Not the same djoker that played Nadal at the USO10.

Um, the fact that it was an enumeration of Nadal's allegedly fluke wins? If anything, I should have included the earlier 2007-2008 matches.

Yeah he looked the same in IW and Miami. But way better than at USO10. Nadal would not have the career slam if he faced this Djoker on the fast HC of the USO.

Who said anything about flukes? Djoker is simply a better player now. I Don't think NAdal would beat Djoker on the fast HC of USO if they played today.

Come on man, where did you get this intelligence? Were you off again reading those things called "books"? How can you be so blind to not understand that once you start playing tennis, you are always the same player. The only thing that changes are people that enter the sport. Therefore, if Ralph won in 2007 against Djoker, he will always win, because Djoker hasn't done anything other than beat Ralph in the final of 2 master level tournaments. I mean, how ridiculous do you sound!

    @MagneticCurls

At this point in 2009, did you see Delpo winning USO? At this point in 2010, did you see Nadal winning USO?

That's my point. Who knows who'll be the Unbeatable Goat 5 months from now?

Maybe we could end the thread by agreeing that ofcourse its encouraging when Nadal looses.
btw I have no stake in who wins, I just really enjoy the thrill, drama, artistry, effort, competence, diversity, accomplishments, entertainment value, exitement, exellence etc etc i tennis and other sports.
