Murray reminds me of the character Rocky Balboa, both in personality (lay-back voice, deadpan humor, constantly impressed by other players rather than himself) and appearance.

Well, he just smashed rackets in 2 consecutive matches, and shouted "WHAT THE FCK WAS THAT SERVE" after double faulting about 15 minutes ago. You decide. Personally, I think he is the new humbalito.

That reminds me of Rocky Balboa's temper and fire. Murray has everything Rocky has. Off the court he's more harmless than a newborn. On the court he's ferocious.

No, he just lacks a personality.

But if you listen to his interviews he has better deadpan comedy skills than any of the top 10. That's personality. Natural humor, rather than the posers like Djokovic and Federer.

I respectfully disagree. His deadpan moments feel like the accidental but inevitable consequence of speaking in that horrible monotonous tone.

    Federer a poser/unnatural humor.

He has more dry humour than you think.

Tipsarevic probably has more personality than most of the top 4 but he is a "sexist" and a homophobe (who cares ) so he can't be cool.

Totally! He frequently wins despite 'career-ending' injuries, which evapourate as soon as his opponents' form dips. ;)

He is ok funny, nothing special. Roddick, Tipsy, Novak and Tsonga are all funnier.

I doubt the Murray trio will even venture into this thread as there is no debating with the consensus.

But those guys you just listed are "attention seeking" funny. Murray is the ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE of attention seeking. Murray is Rocky Balboa funny. Roddick is giving his ALL in interviews, coming up with anything resembling a joke at every opportunity. And Djokovic.....need I say it.....a try-hard comedian. Tsonga.....doing everything he can to get a laugh out of journos. Tipsy.....never seen his interviews. Those first 3 though, certainly not humble, and clearly nothing like the low-key dry-witted Murray.

I agree that Murray is naturally funny while the others mentioned are just attention-seeking, blowhard hams....not that it isn't entertaining sometimes. Djokovic is the only one that gets on my nerves with it. Roddick is a likeable hard blowing pork product, and Tsonga has that disarming quality even though he is trying too hard. I think Murray is funny without trying at all.

    I saw these films:
    Rocky
    Rocky II
    Rocky III
    Rocky IV
    Rocky V
    Rocky Balboa

    I guess you didn't.

Anyway, sounds like Talk Tennis agrees.

    Game, set and [/thread]

This is not a good, bad, positive or negative thread. This is a NSK thread.

For those who wonder, NSK loves Rocky. He used to associate the character primarly with Nadal.

Its simple, he's not a roger or nadal when it comes down to showing good behaviour on court, i think its good for the game that there's a mix of personalities at the top of the game, we have ice cool Roger and Rafa who rarely go ballistic, then you have Murray and Djokovic who can be very fiery and smash racket and wear their hearts on their sleeve on court, make matchups more interesting. Would be so boring if no one showed any emotion and just stayed calm all the time, we need a bit of fire and anger.

I saw all those films, they all sucked equally. And Rocky wasn't funny. So I guess we cleared that one up.
