Gotta love how people feel so obnoxiously proud of the music they listen to. People just never understand that music taste is subjective and not everyone in the world has to appreciate or "understand" your favorite band.

I actually think Bad Romance is a rockin, groovin song, *excellent to dance to* as Rufus from Bill and Ted would say.

And actually, Lady Gaga is a great singer and musician, not just a techo lipsync diva wannabee. Anyone catch her on SNL. She's at the top of her game just singing with her piano. She has a great voice and rocks out on the piano. There are some "old" vids on youtube of her before she became "lady gaga" and they are quite good.

    My humps(?) - Fergie

Feel like a woman - Shania Twain

Why do I feel embarrassed for these women when I hear these songs?

That is horrible. I could have gone without seeing or hearing that video. At least Stefani "Lady Gaga" Germanotta has some talent. You may not like her music(which I am not crazy about) but she does have a good voice and plays own instruments.
Here is Gaga doing a cover of D'yer Maker by Led Zeppelin.

She was just decent. Average piano player, nice voice but nothing special. Some decent songs back then, but easily forgettable (although respectable and not as bad as Lady Gaga years, sure). She was no Fiona Apple or Nikka Costa to name a couple. Ironically, she got insanely famous when she got worst.

As the forementioned formula pointed, it seems all you need is some flamboyant looks and a crappy techno beat to make it.

Back then she looked fine with her natural looks though. Too bad she didn't keep it. I think she was hot.

PS: That Rebecca Black has to be a joke.

Yeah, looking over this thread, many of them seem now retired :(

We can all pray so. It isn't on iTunes.......yet.

Either that or the music industry is trolling us all very hard

Nothing would surprise me to be honest. Music industry it's at its lowest creative point ever, and yes, I'm including prehistoric ages. There's always been crap in the industry, but today there's almost nothing good to compensate.

But let me scare the crap out of you:

Lady Gaga-I liked her act when it was called Cher, Elton John, Madonna, and Cyndi Lauper-all of whom could eat her for lunch.

OMG I've just found a remake of that "Losing you" video made by some guys... from my own hometown! It's almost as bad as the original, but with street cleaning machines instead of limousines.

To think they might be a couple streets from me right now.

Now it's me who is scared.

Some really bad songs in here, Losing You has to be the worst, this new girl Black redefine takes thing to a whole new level though. The good thing is now to record a song is getting cheaper and cheaper, with the digital personal studios is really easy, one could tink that something good has to come out! - and probably a lot of cr@ap too...

I've read that this Rebecca Black is only 13. She's too young for people to be this critical of her song. Prince's "Manic Monday" is almost the same thing.
    Just another Manic Monday
    Wish it was Sunday,
    'Cause that's my fun day.

People think it's cool because Prince wrote it, otherwise they'd hate on that too.

I don't think much of the song, but not enough to single it out.

sorry ed, but i can't agree with you here. if you are going to record and distribute music as a professional musician, then you give up the right to be spared criticism, regardless of how old you are. what you're supposed to do is put forth your best effort and hopefully it stands on its own and people dig it. if she's not ready to be a professional singer/ songwriter, then she should have stayed in the basement or the coffeehouse refining her craft rather than unleashing this poostream upon the interwebs. your first album or single should represent your best work to date so that you hopefully prove to yourself and others that you belong in that industry, regardless of age. if you can't or don't subscribe to that rule, then maybe there should be an age limit to release a single since you have to be 18 to vote and 21 to drink alcohol and 25 to rent a car.

however, i don't only blame her. i think there are a bunch of record execs/ a&r guys/ whoever who need to be fired and banned from the industry. how many lines of coke do you have to do before you greenlight something like this? if you wanna sign a 12 year old to do an album, fine, but common sense should tell you there should be some songs on it somewhere? if she can't write 'em, find someone who can. but that costs money that we could suck up our noses and the lesson that the record industry has learned is that (wait for it, wait for it)......................................................................................................................teenage girls will buy anything!!!!!

    Lady Gaga = cr*p

    Ke$ha = cr*p

It is hard for me to believe that anyone likes these performers much less that they are widely popular, but what do I know.

If I'd meet her face to face, I'd be polite and tell the poor kid "you sing very well and your song is nice" so she goes home happy but, c'mon, I doubt she's reading this board and we're not saying nothing personal by pointing how crappy and ridiculous the song is.

Prince may have bad lyrics but he's a gifted musician and wrote some wonderful music. English is not my mother language so I never cared about Prince lyrics anyway. Just the music.

We can't forgive music industry for selling crap to kids just because they're using another kid to do it. "Oh, poor Rebecca, let's just pretend her music is good"

Didn't Rebecca Black give all her music video money to Japan? Good on her, glad she's not a tool like Justin Bieber.

The best music is that which is not contaminated by words. I challenge you to listen to this piece of art and not be motivated. You have to listen to it all though. It starts slow and builds. Put your head phones in and turn up the volume. Dont listen to 20 seconds of it and tell me its terrible. One of the greatest pieces of music in the last 30 years.
