the worst and ugliest match you've ever seen in your life or no? personally, this is just repulsive tennis and i know that it doesnt count and all but they might as well go back to the juniors with this crap, im sure davydenko vs. young would've been at least watchable and would have some rallies or decent points that would require at least half a brain to construct. i began watching half way through the first set and ive seem about 2 rallies so far. a quarter of the points have been winners, half errors, and a quarter just pure shanks. i think i just lost any respect that ive had for either player within the past, painful hour and a half.

I enjoyed it. The match gave them an opportunity to play freely and with abandon. Good way to end the year.

It was an "ok" match, nothing special but some hard hitting from both sides.

I saw in the scoresheet that bob bryan played Igor but it only went 2 sets?

what was roddick's reason to withdraw from that match as well as Youhzny?

Dead rubbers are best of 3, and Andreev won in straights. I'm not sure about Youzhny, but Roddick told the Bryans last night that he wouldn't be playing on Sunday because he'd had a "few too many".

It was a dead rubber, that's why.

Not only that, but Patrick McEnroe usually lets Bob Bryan play dead singles rubbers. I'm surprised he didn't let Mike Bryan play the other one.

They actually argued over who would play this one, because neither really wanted to. Their ATP blog is full of info...

What's especially irratating is seeing that smirk on Blake's face all throughout the match.

The American team had a big party Saturday night and the Russian team had some fun and blew off steam as well. In many dead rubbers, matches are played by guys not delegated to play singles. Blake and Tursunov went out and tried to entertain the crowd. Dmitry hid his smirk better than James, but who could blame Blake for being euphoric after winning his first Davis Cup.

Agreed. Roddicks forehand looked like something out of my local 3.0-3.5 league matches. It was so bad even the commentators repeatedly commented on it. Big loopy 20-30 mph forehands landing short in the court that were so easy to t off on. If it wasnt for his serve Andy would have been in deep trouble. That is the first match ever I can honestly say his backhand looked better than his forehand, throught the entire match!
