Is Wimbledon trying to clear the road for Federer?

After a 34 minute 3rd set, and 32 minute 4th set (which Nadal won 6-2), Wimbledon closes the roof because "there is only 30 minutes of good light left, not enough time for a 5th set"? Roof/AC takes 40 minutes...

    NADAL OUT.

Djokovic says he likes the roof and that it helps him return. Wimbledon obliges by releasing the following QF schedule:

    Centre Court-
    Roger Federer (SUI)[3]
    v
    Mikhail Youzhny (RUS)[26]

    Court One-
    Novak Djokovic (SRB)[1]
    v
    Florian Mayer (GER)[31]

    Federer leads Youzhny 13-0.
    Djokovic leads Mayer 1-0.

    Wednesday weather forecast:

Largely cloudy with outbreaks of mainly light rain, perhaps initially locally heavy, and drizzle. However, some brighter conditions may develop, together with scattered heavy showers in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 deg C (68 deg F).

Probably not a case of DJOKOVIC OUT but if QF is delayed by rain it could force Djokovic to play QF over 2 days followed by SF vs Federer.

Probably won't make a difference in the end, but I think the effort is there, don't you?

Yea...even as a big Fed fan...you have a point. The first question I would ask is why is the number one player not on centre court. :)

Federer had to play on court one, now it's Djokovic's turn.

In my opinion, Nadal lost on purpose as a thank you for Fed handing him the 2011 RG title, by beating Djoker.

A nadal always pays his debts

Well, Sherlock, this needs some attention. Pip Pip!

I am curious when they released the schedule? For example...perhaps they released Federer's schedule before they released Djokovic's schedule. Federer did play Malisse at 1:00 on Monday, while Djokovic played in the 3rd match on Centre Court.

It's payback for letting Nadal win in the dark in 2008. ;)

As for Fed and Djokovic well:

    3 + 26 = 29
    1 + 31 = 32

Higher seed goes on Centre Court. :)

I wonder if they think Federer might not win? That would be a special sight for the casual tennis fan.

(I don't really know what I'm talking about, just speculating :))

Um...you do realize that there is no tiebreak in the 5th set at Wimbledon, right? Ask Isner or Mahut or Cilic or Querry how long a 5th set could take.

Um...you do realize that the roof was closed during the Federer-Benneteau match on Centre Court in which Federer was 2 points away from losing the match six times, right? So how exactly are the organizers helping Federer win by putting him on Centre Court and closing the roof?

Well Fed says he prefers playing without the roof, and that it slows down the conditions, so playing his match on Centre Court with a roof on could actually be worse for him than being put on Court 1.

Ah, the warm feeling of self-satisfaction at actually getting a reference. I'd say that Ferrer at 5'9 would better suit that particular catchphrase, though.

Good point. It's very possible. We've seen so many examples of this before, such as in the Roland Garros 2012 final against Djokovic, where it was evident that Djokovic was benefiting from the extremely dangerous and rainy conditions and they let him play against Nadal for an entire set. In the Rosol match, the umpire did nothing about Rosol's distractions during his services, so it does seem entirely plausible like they were deliberately trying to put Nadal at a disadvantage.

Rosol was making noise as he hustled about to return the Nadal serve, and even as Nadal was about to hit his own shots in the third set. In fact, the umpire spoke to Rosol about it, but no warning was issued. For centre court at Wimbledon, doesn't that seem a bit unacceptable to you? Further evidence that there could be something else going on here (not that I'm saying there is, but there could be).

He was breathing. Of course, should the two meet again for an official match, the ITF will make sure that Rosol is prevented from breathing for the entire match, as such an outrage can't go unpunished.

I'd say one could argue that stopping after the end of a set is fairer than stopping in the middle of the 5th though.

dumb thread. schedule mixes players round diff courts. plus fed is bigger drawcard than djok even tho he ranked lower. makes sense 2 put him on bigger court

fed/youhz prolly be better match than djok/mayer neway.

Well, we have a good idea of an answer. English and Tennis royalty wanted to see Federer play (Agassi, Steffi, Price and Princess of Cambridge)

So they should risk not finishing the match just in case of the slim possibility that it'll be a 6-0 set? They have a roof now. Why not use it to make sure that the match will definitely finish?

Yeah, and Nadal lost 8 consecutive games in the RG final so that must mean he has no chance to win any more games for the rest of the match. :???:
