I was watching some vids on youtube and came over this one:

He has really stepped up his game. He had some sick forehands. Do you think that he could be some sort of saving grace for the Americans? Or do you think that other players like Querrey are the future?

see my other threads, i think isner is the future of american tennis in the next 5 years. he hits a first serve around 145-150, his kick serve is INSANE, jumps over 10 feet tall as reported by one who attended the houston championships, he moves WELL for a big man. he can actually volley decently as well.

i think he will break the top 100 this year, possibly top 75, and by next years end he will be securely in the top 20, from there, its up to his will and abilities.

Good to see he's developed some consistency off the groun, and comes to the net more as well. Hopefully he can make it back to the top 100, and get his career back on track.

He's playing a Challenger at Tallahassee,FL. I guess we won't be hearing much from him until the clay court season is over.....
I don't see him ever breaking the top 20...maybe the top 50....

  8. I really wish he would improve his backhand. He would be so much better.

make me stop watching the isner/monfils match because it wasn't even entertaining...
but oh well, I could never compete against him, still. I just don't think his game is that interesting, and since he's American there's a high probability we will see him on TV matches. Even when a match like Haas and Davydenko are on, they will show the American. Fact.

true, its not the red stuff, but he still is better than the average mover on clay, specially for his size.

I saw him play Monfils in Indian Wells live. Isner got a lot more game than people give him to credit, not enough to make it without his serve but plenty to back it up. Strong forehand which he can whack when he chooses too, consistent backhand. Not super fast, but moves ok for his height. Not a bad volleyer either, nothing spectacular but he can get the job done at net.

In the long run, i have a feeling that Isner will have much better career than Ivo Karlovic. has much more well rounded game.

did anyone watch any of these matches, he TOTALLY frustrated these players. and gaves jmdp a fit in his loss.

i think people seriously underrate the guy.

he WILL break the top 20, from there, its all about what he does, but he has the tools now to break the top 50 and hes still very young in the pro world.
