    Hello,
I wanted to ask why the sudden disappearance of the new Isospeed string - Classic Gold?

    http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/ISOSPEED_Classic_Gold_16L_String/descpageACISO-ISOCG16L.html

    Did it sold out?
    Production batch issue?
Or a decision not to carry it anymore?

If I may I'd also like to ask if this string is the same as Isospeed Professional and Classic just in between these gauges. They are the same string but 1 is 1.20mm, the other is 1.30mm. So is it the same string just in a 1.25mm version?

    Thanks in advance.

I have this string (from UK). I also expected it to be the same string as Pro & Control Classic but in 1.25, but it looks like a different string.. it is not semi-translucent like the Pro/Control Classic.

One thing, the packaging is absolutely beautiful.:)

    Hey Marrrat,
care to post your experience with this string?

Just got some samples and yes, the packaging is beautiful.
You can feel a slight texture on the string, like filaments going around it.
In hand the string feels stiffer than Isospeed Professional or Control.

Initially I thought about hybriding it with a poly on the crosses but now I'm not so sure.

I have not strung it yet.. might do so in the next few weeks. Hopefully it is not similar to the non-Classic Professional/Control which I don't like as much as the Classics.

I plan to test it in the mains with a poly cross, then in the cross with a soft poly main. Pro Classic works well both ways, it is my favorite cross string other than gut and also the closest feel to gut as a main string.

    Automatix,

I just talked to our hard goods buyer. He confirmed that unfortunately the string has been discontinued and we are not getting any more in stock.

The material and ribbon construction are the same, but the gold pigment stiffens it up a bit. Still, as with Classic and Professional, the Gold has (IMO) a uniquely soft and muted feel. The softest variation of this construction is the old Head RIP Feel used in Intellistring and Intellitour. Would love to see Head contract a reel of that...

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Thank you Brittany,
I had a feeling that this was a limited edition or something in similar fashion.

    Thank you for the response.

Thanks Jon, I think we've corresponded about the Head RIP Feel. I've bought a real of Intelli just to get more RIP Feel.

RIP Feel is quite unique, the coating is smoother than the Isospeed Control/Professional so the string slides more. I have a friend who hits with decent topspin and while he chewed through Isospeed Control quite fast the Intelli RIP Feel lasted quite a bit longer and offered him more spin, my guess due to the smoother surface of the RIP Feel.

Thank you for chiming in, always a pleasure to read your input.

    Cheers!

My personal favourite is Weiss Cannon Mosquito Bite (I use dense pattern frames). This is the best poly for feel by far..
