Stanford it's time to panic ... if you don't win tomorrow you will be out of the top 20 ...
The pre-season and first ranking period are horrible this year. They're so bad it will take another 3 or 4 rankings to sort it all out.
Dunno, TAMU could be very legit this year. I really like their lineup and I think they will contend for the SEC title this year.
Lower ranked teams that I think win today: Notre Dame, Drake, BYU, Michigan, Texas, and Tennessee. In the consolation matches I'll go with San Diego St, Michigan St, and Boise St.
Georgia better be ready today because VCU is going to be tough
Unfortunately, Stanford will be lucky to make the tournament this year as I thought months ago. I was able to catch some of the singles yesterday and it is clear that this team is not a top 40 team. I hope they will improve as the season moves on but it does not look like they are a tournament team.
If JP McEnroe comes back to finish college, would he be available for the team ?
I was at the matches yesterday and I went away feeling that Vandy was much better than VCU. I'm expecting Georgia to have it easier today.
Dawgs better gear up for Clemson when we come rolling in next Thursday.
Vandy blowing out Minnesota though Minnesota's #1 didn't play. Columbia taking it to Louisville leading 3-0.
Weather not looking good at all in Palo Alto.
The early ranking are polls. After the NTI finishes in a few weeks, they convert to the computer rankings. There is no reason for the polls to take a long time to sort out, other than inertia and ignorance on the part of the voters.
They just copy the rankings of last year with minor changes when results happen. I'm not sure they really follow college tennis.
Harvard takes doubles over Notre Dame but ND takes 4 1st sets.
Columbia beat Louisville 4-1. Ivy League not lying down.
Auburn take dubs point over Indiana and also snags 4 1st sets.
Looks like it's cleared up. I see they are warming up. They're playing on the other side of the bay too Boise St/Santa Clara starting on schedule.
I agree with all of those except for Drake. I think FSU will beat Drake rather handily.
Harvard digs it out with a late surge at #5. Mahlangu was down 4-5 and won the last 3 games to clinch it for the Crimson.
Mahlangu was down at least 3-0 in that 3rd set and it might have been 4-0 before coming back.
College tennis hasn't figured it out yet. All the rules changes, scoring changes, format changes, point penalty changes won't do a bit of good until they figure out how to put up a proper, working, scoring system and video on the Internet.
Kecki #3 for Santa Clara going with the long pants!
Glad to see kecki playing college tennis after graduating from usc last year. He's doing an mba program now at Santa Clara.
Sadly Indiana looks very over ranked and should drop
Was one of the teams I was thinking of but did not want to name names before the first couple matches. My improssion was based off watching them at the ITA Indoor last fall. They'll still have a good year.
Really impressed by the scoreboard presented by Ohio State.
Oklahoma blowing out Memphis- I thought that'd be a little closer
Yeah driving in to PA looked bad this morning. Sun is out, but it's COLD here. I'm here umpiring this weekend.
Does anyone know if the video at USC is working? Last year they were toast most of the time.
Oh that Stanford video system is sweeeet.
It really is. I had to leave about ten minutes after the switch to singles. Got to see the end of the matches via streaming.
Tulsa takes out Illinois 4-2. Michigan looks like it'll take 5 1st sets against Cal - not sure who won dubs
You and me both. Hopefully they'll have a better day tomorrow.
Not based on this match, but Oklahoma may be closer to a top 5 team. Still very early in the season. We'll see.
In a tight doubles match Kentucky takes a big point against Texas
Michigan has won 3 of 4 completed singles. I think Cal won doubles but not sure. Stefan was up a break in the 2nd too.
1) King (UM) def. McLachlan (Cal) 6-3 7-5
2) Konigsfeldt (Cal) vs. Stefan (UM) 3-6 7-6 5-4
3) Petrone (UM) def Johnson (Cal) 6-2 1-6 7-5
4) Bayane (Cal) def. Bernstein (UM) 6-3 6-1
5) Zhu (UM) vs. McLachlan (Cal) 6-3 6-7 4-4
6) Franks (UM) def. Engsted (Cal) 6-4 6-1
McLachlan breaks Zhu and Cal wins it 4-3. Tough loss for Michigan
another one of those teams is LSU. Not looking very strong.
Virginia wins their regional. In other news, water is wet.
Way to go Stanford. This could be start of winning streak.
Compared against their #18 ranking add UNC in there.
Kentucky and Texas in a good one - several tight 3rd sets.
UK up 3 - 1 over Texas. Still think the underseed is going to take this one?
And UK takes the win 4-1 over Texas!
Better get your spray paint ready!
Won't have to worry about matches against all those regional champions at UDub.

5 of the 6 singles matches of Vt vs MTSU have gone to 3 sets. And there is a chance that all 6 could as court 2 is still in a 2nd set tiebreak.
wow what a match! Looked like VT had it under control and suddenly MTSU leads on 4 courts. 4 very tight sets coming down to the wire.
Virginia Tech just doesn't know how to finish. They blew that match with Northwestern the other day too.
