So I'm watching him play Blake right now, and I noticed that his frame is now totally blacked out, not even the two white Babolat lines on the outside of the frame like he had in Miami...new stick? or new black paintjob?

Rome: (I couldn't find one of Madrid, but I'm pretty sure he's using the same frame)

I've been trying to get an answer this question since he went to a blacked out frame from the APD he was using. My guess is that he's back to his old racquet. And isn't sponsored at the moment.

Pretty sure it is his old head instinct painted black. Previously, he was painting the white stripes on the sides, which made it look like a babolat, although this would not be "proper," (since it was a Head underneath), he has since gone to all back, with only the babolat string logo.

It's hard to say from the picture but it seems to me that he's playing with pure drive or something like that, the neck of the racket is not like apdc

What's the story with the pros. It seems as if half the tour are using blacked out racquets or paint jobs. Doesn't any one use a regular actual racquet?

Oh yeah he is. On that pic you can see it really clearly. Why isn't he sponsored?

^^ Maybe hes just got a string deal now, that would explain the stencil

Nice catch on the Flexpoints. I didn't see them at first. But is his totally blacked out racquet the same as the one with white stripes?

The first pics look like the string pattern and the headshape of the Babolat Pure Storm LTD. But if it is, why would someone with such awful groundstrokes (sorry Ivo...you're still one of my favorite players) use such a demanding frame?

In this picture you can see the "FlexPoints", whether they're real or fake....

It is not. It is the HEAD Flexpiont Instinct. All of the black out racquets have been the Flexpoint Instinct even the ones with the white double line that was painted on them. Ivo early in the year did try to use the Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex.

well whatever the heck it is, he needs to choose something and stick with it. too much experimenting is definitely not the best thing for anyones game. pro or non-pro.

I don't get why he doesn't use Tournagrip XXL so his grip doesn't look so silly...

Yeah!! and he has big hands. It doesn't really make sense except for the fact that he might use a 5 inch grip or something and the tournagrip cannot wrap all the way around the racquet.

Gasquet also wrap the overgrip like this, maybe suitable for the 1HBH player

ok, maybe theyre getting a racquet built to his exact specifications and in the meantime, hes playing with his old stick..., Im sure they have a clause somewhere that lets them have first pick on what they can use, if they dont feel comfortable with what they "should" use. I mean, the racquet is the money-maker.

I hope they will make him a racquet. Unfortunately I don't think that he has the draw to merit a signature model though.

No, it's because Karlovic's grip is HUGE and regular Tournagrip won't even get close to wrapping the whole thing.

Karlovic was playing in vienna last year.
I was holding his machine, and the stringer told me, if you want to put that handle in gripsizes it would be a L9 or something like that.
It seemed to me like a small bottle of water...
