    Match of the round!

After they were drawn together in Acapulco it felt like a nice rivalry was brewing, and now they've been drawn together in a grown-up competition.

Playing for the 3rd time ever, all 3 matches within a month.
Gulbis won in 2 in Rotterdam
Dimitrov won in 3 in Acapulco

Both players very popular about these parts, and 2014 so far has been a year of living up to hype - to some degree - for both of these players.

Fascinating match-up, I can't wait. The victor will have a very realistic shot of a semi final.

No way, whoever wins this match is beating Bautista Agut, probably Gasquet/Isner too.

It's going to be a close match, I think 3 sets with Gulbis coming out on top.

    Gulbis, easily.

All he has to do is hit to Dimitrov's backhand.

I am sure he found it easy just hitting it to his backhand in Acapulco. You'd imagine someone like Murray would have won if Dimitrov was as simple as that.

However, to be fair, I think Gulbis will win if he does what he did in Rotterdam, i.e. 76% first serves in and 85% of those won. But if the stats are more like in Acapulco then I think Dimitrov will find a way to win.

I think one of the bigger similarities between Dimitrov and Federer is how much they draw on their confidence in tense moments. Dimitrov is on a high and that might help him prevail where he previously would have stumbled. Just a little theory I have.

Gulbis made Rotterdam look so easy as he was GOATing his serve. He was is a different place.

Unless he can do that again, I think Dimitrov knows how to win - hit it flat to his forehand and don't give him time for his ridiculous backswing :)

More stupidity from you. All your posts center around " hit to his BH", yea we get it ,Ralph is good at that. Your boy got owned in 2011 by a better player, deal with it.

Gulbis had him in Acapulco, came down to two bad choices on shot selection. It will be close, but I think Gulbis is the better player when both are playing well.

Ok whatever you say. Dimitrov's BH won't be under fire v/s Gulbis, thats for sure. Plus Dimi's BH held up great against Ralph at MC the most high bouncing surface on the planet so I'm sure he'll do just fine. :)

Gulbis is never "so sure for the win." That guy has screwed up more of my Major brackets than anybody on tour. I'm anticipating a third-set tiebreak, and hesitantly picking Gulby to win, but it could easily go either way.

It's positive that such a match is drawing attention here. Proves TW is not only about Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Murray.

I picked Dimitrov in 3 by accident, meant to pick Gulbis in 3. So it's tied

Based on the confidence Dimitrov gained in Acapulco he should manage this in 2.

Gulbis was a walking zombie in Acapulco, and even then he was 2 points away from winning that match.

And Gulbis has a much better backhand than Murray's. Dimitrov will struggle if he gets into many backhand rallies with Ernie.

    I've got Gulbis in 2.

Gulbis needed an inhaler in Acapulco and even then he almost closed it. I'd still give the edge to Gulbis.

you think that's what they were thinking during rallies?..."can't wait until we're in a grown-up competition"...so different the lives of fans and players

    @marc45,

Isn't it clear what the OP means.

    1000 >>> 500, that's all his main point was.

He's a huge fan of Dimitrov, and isn't being disparaging.

Nathaniel's got my back - cheers bro. :)

Yeah - 500s are big cheese, we all know that. It's just cool that they're now facing each other at a 1000.
Grigor's my fav (male) pro - I'm not cutting; you made a pretty big leap to get from my comments to your conclusion.

haha I'm hoping for black heart in 2 too. But I think potty mouth might tee off on some weak spinny balls from black heart and get a set. hell maybe even the match. i'm firmly behind black heart though.
