I was looking at the just published draws when I noticed this:

Is this correct? There is some more fuel for WTA bashers :)

Anyway men should complain now, like women did when GS price moneys were not equal.

Well it's Tier 1 and ATP has changed and its ATP 1000, I really don't understand either..
Is it the other way around?

Strange indeed. It must be an error. While I agree on equal pay, when you compare the standard of men's tennis versus women I would definitely not say women deserve equal! And I'm a woman. BUT THEY have the same costs, travel and all the rest so I'll let it slide.........

Men earn more from 3rd round to quarter-finals. I suppose the total prize money is the same. I'm sure Nadal,Federer,Djokovic and Murray would like the women's formula better but I support the men's formula. Top players already earn a lot.

Miami & Madrid will also be paying the women more than the men.

WTA is not offering any rebates, for now.

Wait a minit. Is this deja vu all over again? I thought there was another thread on this subject.

Yes, the money is about the same (about $5K difference). I also prefer men's formula (for money AND for points too).

OK, that solves it. I prefer men's formula for money, but women's for points.
I don't like that ATP drastically reduced points for anyone but the winner this year. It is a bad change. They should have kept proportions as they were.

I respectfully disagree. I would like to see more emphasis on the biggest events (slams) and more emphasis on winning events in the point, as much as possible. That is what I dont like about the WTA system, it rewards quantity over quality. That is why there have been so many slamless (in the last 12 months at the time of their ranking) #1s since 2000: Davenport, Mauresmo, Jankovic, Clijsters, Hingis. A system that rewards a)winning, b)bigger events, and has as heavy an emphasis on those two things as possible I like. I also wish the ATP would bring back rewarding bonus points for beating as highly ranked an opponent as possible, and the WTA would add this as well.

How does that apply at this tournament? Men play 3 sets too.

Got it, thanks. I do remember bit**ing about the ATP bowing to the American PC attitude in its designation of the WTA prizes.

if not more, the women will cry for more, not even equal prize money can calm them down.
