Just wanted to mention Blake's progress there... He's not a claycourter by any means, but he did just beat Arnaud Clement on clay, and pretty convincingly too. Did anybody see that match? What did it look like?

I don't fancy his chances against Moya, but hey, anything can happen.

Watched the Moya/Fish match last night when I got home. The guy's on a tear. Good to see him playing so well. Will have to watch the Berdych match tonight. Glad for DVR, but ten hours make for a late night. Yeah, I'm liking Moya's chances against James.

James beat him like a drum. And it wasn't just by blasting him off the court either. He used his topspin on his forehands to create angles and pull him off the court. His backhand looked solid and his return of serve was just SICK!!!

I 'm not surprised, Blake has already beat Moya and Almagro on clay. If he can do it again tommorow, remains to be seen but I don't doubt his ability. The question is, can he do it consistently. He is definitely better than Roddick and company on clay.

I've always thought that Blake had more clay court game than Roddick. His weak serve is not as big an issue on the surface, and being fast and having a huge forehand are going to help you regardless of what you're playing on. Of course, Roddick does have all the Houston titles so...I don't know.

In any case it's great to see Blake getting good results on the dirt.

Blake had a 5-0 record against Clement (6-0 now), so that wasn't too surprising.

Point of interest: doesn't Blake have a better record on clay than on grass?

Auf wiedersehen James. Moya sent him packing. So much for James doing well on clay this season. Beating Monfils and Arnaud Clement are his 2 wins on clay. Do we have to mention Houston? Is that even clay?

Not a bad showing for Blake. He gave Moya a good match and Moya has been in good form this tournament.

I don't get any coverage of Hamburg :( but I am really excited to hear that Carlos continues to advance...I'm sorry that it was at Blake's expense, but a win is a win....Vamos Carlos!!!

Looks like Blake blew him away in the 1st set. Classic Blake, start hot and then watch it slip away. Hopefully he can win a couple at RG.

I don't understand any of that, you sound high as a kite. In 10 years Blake will be sitting on a beach, drinking margaritas, thinking about the USO match with Agassi or getting to 4 in the world. It doesn't change the fact that you just stated a bunch of obvious crap for no other reason than to denegrate a dude's accomplishments.

Next time Moya gets beat by Fed I'll make a thread called: Moya just lost to Fed, a 10 time slam champ and greatest ever, two things Moya will never be.

He won a FO and was in a AO final. Looks like that's what his "chart" indicates.

Now I will resort the logic some Nadal fans come up with when they talkin about Fed vs. Nadal. But he OWNS Nadal! 3-0. Guess sometimes it's ok to be one dimensional.

No joke. It's not like Nadal has a varied and fluid game. Actually he's basically the same player as Blake with a better mental game.

Well, if it were a better everything then he wouldn't be losing to Blake all the time. In fact, Nadal has only been able to manage 1 set out of their past 3 meetings.

If they play 3 times on clay you will see how many sets Blake can take. Their head to head is one sided on hardcourts but still, Nadal will own him in head to head when Blake retires and possibly Nadal will own him in their hardcourts meetings as well.
Anyway Blake should look for a big trophy, not just head to heads. He is 27 and can´t waste more chances.

just wondering, which is more important? slams ? masters? rankings? prize money? OR head to head?
blake is more superior than nadal only in head to head.... and it is not over yet...

Yeah but Blake has never won anything meaningful in his life. Nadal has 9 MS titles and 2 slams. A clay court record that will probably never be broken and still is only 20. Blake is on his way out and with nothing to show.

But in this case Nadal having a winning h2h is more effective since 5 of the 7 wins were in Finals. Nadal having a 5-2 record against Fed in finals is key. That's why that h2h is more meaningful. They were almost always in big or key matches.

nadal has more slams and tms titles than roddick, fish, and blake combined, lol.

That too. To think, if Nadal wins Hamburg he will have 10 MS titles. Just two behind Fed. All this at 20. Now he needs to catch up in the slam category.

How many of those finals were on clay, and not on Feds preferred surfaces? Hmmm...why doesn't Fed get more shots at Nadal in hard court finals? Hmmm........

You make it sound like Fed has a distinct advantage on hardcourt. The record is 2-2.

what is with all the hatred and envy of Blake. Blake was never considered a great pro prospect coming out of Juniors and then Harvard so for him to make into the Top 5 if even for a short while shows his true talent and hard work. Also how many of you big talkers would have been able to come back and make the Top 100 much less Top 5 within 2 years of having a parent die, breaking your neck, and being debilitated by an illness.
Give Blake credit for his achievements, he may not be a Grand slam winner but he has done much much more than 99% of us could ever think of doing.
