On the Balco website, (www.snacsystem.com/balco.html), Jim Courier is listed as one of their clients. Courier's sucess was built on fanatical fitness. IMO, this tarnishes his achievements, considering the kind of activities on which Balco built its fame. I wonder what relationship Courier had with Balco and Victor Conte? It would be interesting to know a little bit about that.

Balco had many pro athletes listed as their clients, Not everyone took the roids.

Don't forget, the ATP drug testing system that's been in place for years never busted him. But it did bust Coria and Korda to name a couple off the top of my head. Never Jimbo.

I'm not saying Courier ever used performance enhancing drugs, but I've heard of pro tennis players paying 50k for injections to make certain muscles stronger. Want a stronger bicep? 50k and you have yourself a deal, it's amazing how far certain things have come. You won't get another word out of me so don't even try :)

That doesn't mean anything. I assume you're not aware of the details of Balco andfor. The whole point of Balco's designer steroid is that it was undetectable. The evidence showing Bonds, Giambi, Roy Jones, Shane Mosley, Montgomery, Kelli White, Marion Jones and the numerous others....shows that indeed usage was widespread and testing seemed unable to detect as promised. The evidence recently on Michelle Collins was overwhelmingly damning and she was stripped of her title as a result...yet she was quick to point out she never tested positive. As for Jim....I dont' think any direct evidence has been found....he did have that well known link to
Balco....there's no way to know. It would be really pathetic were he using them as Jim was one of the outspoken proponents of testing and harsh penalites for doping. Not surprising since being physically superior was a huge part of his strategy. Jim was also one of the first players to confess that doping was a widespread problem on the tour.

Another Balco note is that Greg RuPEDski's father had contacted the head of Balco though the reason remains unclear.

Conte started his business to help athletes identify mineral deficiencies in their blood, then sold supplements to address those deficiencies. That is legal. Sells ZMA, a legal supplement. Why beat on Courier, Lendl was one of his clients.

Yes I am familier with Balco and that their designer drugs were supposed to be undetecible. As I stated. Not everyone associated with Balco took Steroids or illegal performance enhancing drugs.

    Good point Ronaldo........

Rusedski’s father wrote to Balco boss

    EXCLUSIVE: by Eleanor Preston

Greg Rusedski’s father Tom was forced to make the embarrassing admission last night that he received a fax from Victor Conte, the man at the centre of the THG doping scandal currently gripping world sport.
Rusedski senior insisted that his son had never met, nor spoken to Conte nor been supplied his products. Conte’s San Francisco-based company Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative (Balco) developed the performance enhancing drug Tetrahydrogestrinone, known as THG. Rusedski confirmed that he contacted Conte after his son tested positive for nandrolone, though made it clear he did so without the British No 2’s knowledge.

“I apologise sincerely for the embarrassment this may have caused my son,” said Rusedski’s father.

“I was merely satisfying a personal investigation.”

Conte is one of four men who have been indicted on 42 counts relating to financial irregularities and the distribution of steroids to professional athletes. A succession of big name sportsmen and women have been drawn in to the scandal, including British sprinter Dwayne Chambers, who was recently handed a two-year ban for having THG in his system. US track and field stars like Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery have been called to give evidence before the grand jury in the Balco case.

Conte has links with athletes across several sports, including tennis. Balco’s website still boasts of its work with Ivan Lendl, Michael Chang and Jim Courier and he has also worked with the 1998 Denver Broncos’ American football team and baseball star Barry Bonds amongst others. Bonds’ trainer, Greg Anderson, is one of the three others facing charges, along with Balco executive James Valente and Chambers’ coach Remi Korchemny.

Rusedski senior did not offer any further explanation as to what possessed him to get in touch with such a controversial figure at a time when his son was battling anti-doping charges. Conte was, though, a renowned authority on sports nutrition and chemistry even before his reputation was ruined by the THG scandal.

The fact that the fax was believed to have been received before charges were bought against Conte could suggest that Rusedski may simply have been unaware of Conte’s notoriety when he contacted him.

Can you believe people making millions in endorsement would put their health, professional fortune and good name in the hands of a company with a crappy logo and a sh*tty website?

maybe they're trying to turn back the clock to 1994, when they were actually a legitimate company with products that addressed vitamin deficiencies. man, in one of the interviews i read, conte comes right out and says that he got involved designing roids because he was just bored!

I believe you. Put Jim Courier circa 94 in the supercomputer on the left and it will come out off the one on the right looking like a playboy.

OK Data, Everyone associated with Balco or who take supplements and plays on and get tested by the ATP Tour is on steroids. Guilt by association, that's always fair.

Professional tennis players play and 11 month schedule. The physicality is brutal. Meat, bread, fruit, vegtables and gatoraide as their only source nutrition is ludicrous.

Yea, I know I am still illogical. I just do not see the that the tennis players associated with Balco shown in the same light as Barry Bonds and Marion Jones.

is that picture for real? that's pure comedy of the highest order. if you look really closely, you can see his apron is embroidered with "scourge-in-training"

speaking of your buddy courier, i hear he's living in the city these days. any chance of getting ahold of one of his new rackets?

Straight from the horse's mouth... The only picture on BALCO's website. But of course you can always email Conte directly and request an update. His personal email address is of course listed on the homepage. "Reach Us" us via e-mail (conte@balcolab.com). Haha.

Re' Jimbo, well working on it as you can see. Why else would I say that Jim now looks like a playboy? ... I know he's training at Tennisport, McEnroe's club in Queens... Maybe I'll go and play him for one of his racquets. Piece of cake.
