Last weekend I walked right into him at the movies here in Tampa, so after a bit of a shock and some eyes rubbing I actually introduced myself and asked him about his commentating on ESPN. I told him that I was sick and tired of Cliff Drysdale and Marie Gorilla talking nonsense and so were my friends and we wanted more of him or John Mac commentating. He says ESPN doesnt give a **** about what the fans are saying, they have their own way of doing things and that's that. However, he will be commentating on the AO, according to...well, Jim Courier hisself! ( I just cant believe I walked into a former No1 at the freakin' AMC theatre)

They should dump Johnny Mac, too, just like CNBC did! Bring on Courier!!! He's eons better than either Johnny or P. Mac.

Still amazes me that ESPN doesn't care what the viewers say. How many other businesses can survive without giving a sh*t about their customers? I mean even CBS, unfortunately in this case, listened to their viewers after last year's Janet Jackson peep show incident at the Super Bowl.

BTW, so what movie was Jim watching? Just curious.

Courier rocks! I love it when an athlete is down to earth and is considerate and friendly towards his/her fans.
I think that a Courier / JMac team would be the best for the booth.

Breakpoint, I talked to him in the theatre main lobby, so I could not tell which movie he was going to see. The thing that kind of struck me as odd was that despite of a big crowd of people around ( a busy scene at the movies) noone seemed to care about Jim. I was, like, the only guy interested. He did not seem to mind my chatting him up, he was kind of chilling there, waiting for a movie. I made sure I did not take much of his private time, dude's entitled to some quiet time at the movies, right?

  8. You chatted him up? I'm pretty sure he's into the ladies. ;)

That's sad how a future hall of famer doesn't get recognized. I'm sure it's a good thing for him because he can have the privacy but he's probably still American's #2 claycourt player right now. :)
