not so sure if it matters much....those #s are not going to be touched by anyone, it appears. I actually thought Fed would be able to pull it off, but looks like he's running out of gas....

    ATP Inconsistent

The ATP recently changed it's site to say that Connors won 110 tournaments - up from 109. They did this by counting the 1976 Nottingham tournament as a win, even though the final (against Nastase) was abandoned due to rain. But this is an odd move because they didn't at the same time include the 1981 Monte Carlo event as a win, even though it was abandoned for rain in the final also (against Vilas). The 1984 Rotterdam final was discontinued (against Lendl) because of a bomb scare, but they didn't count that either.

My view - either count all the abandoned finals as tournament wins - or count none of them - not some of them.

My feeling is that the finalists shouldn't be awarded tournament wins - rather they should both be regarded as runner-up.

it was even worse at 1980 Palm Springs with Connors,Mayer,Fleming and Teacher due to play the semis. But due to rain, they could not play the semis, much less the final...can you award a win to 4 different players???

I was thinking the same thing. Why just Nottingham? Very weird! I agree with you...should be the same rule applied to all.

in 81 Connors gave european red clay his best try.He played the finals at Hamburg and Montecarlo.I don´t think he has ever done it before and he certainly didn´t do it later.

Did he ever play at the Foro Italico? after 73 I mean.
