19 years old, 6' 6'', left-handed, currently ranked 89 in the world.
Who will win Jiri vs Jerzy?
TOP 20, in a time...
Hmmmm amazing year indeed so far http://www.tennisexplorer.com/player/vesely/
43 wins / 9 losses
Yep. I've had my eye on him. He seems to have a lot of potential.
Saw him play earlier this year and there's a lot to like about his game. Pretty well rounded for his age and shows a lot of promise. will be fun to watch him develop.
Minor nitpick: he just turned 20 today. But yeah, definitely seems like one of the best prospects from his age group, not that it's really saying much. Other than Tomic, nobody else from the U21 range seems to be on the verge of an imminent breakthrough.
His last name in Czech means "a cheerful person" . I wonder if he is on the court?
He's ranked around 10 or so in the U23 ranking, so I guess there is no reason he shouldn't make it. I've heard (maybe here) good things about him, so should be exciting to see how he develops.
Nice record for the 20-year-old...that combo of height and leftiness could be lethal on faster surfaces, if such playing conditions are ever brought back.
Another "youngun" (turns 22 tomorrow) with an incredible record this year is Carreno-Busta...69-10 with Futures/Challengers titles galore, but a clay-court specialist.
An update in Jiri Vesely (this is the correct name, OP made a spelling error):
He wins the Liberec challenger def. Delbonis: 6-7, 7-6, 6-4
and reaches anew career high ranking 81.
Delbonis also at a new career high at 57 as a consequence.
They both will play in San Marino challenger this week...
Talented player, making progress under the radar. Watch out.
