Found two of these odd ball oversize micro strung racquets under the brand JOE REX. As predicted, an online search reveals they are Chinese made, however the brand name was originally Japanese and was acquired by the Chinese outfit back in 1978. Anyway outside of the Pro Kennex Micro strung models it was nice to find something a little different.

^^^Nice, the tightest string pattern I've ever seen!

Well for a comparison here is a PL Micro Strung model next to a Snauwaert HI TEN 50. Both of these were in the market at around the same time, maybe the Snauwaert late 80's early 90's.

That's quite a comparison view! BTW, the Pro Kennex Micro was ca 1984/'85. I sold the heck out of them in North Carolina, much to the dismay of the stringers in the shops ;) . I still have my prototype of the Micro Mid. That Joe Rex model looks like a hybrid of a Micro and the later Silver Ace 90 or similar model. If I had seen the frame without hearing the story, I would have assumed it was made by Kunnan.

Very interesting collection of tennis history. Thanks for sharing!
