What is McEnroe's history with Volkl? What was he using under the paint? I'd appreciate any detailed pics of a stock C10 or Tour 10 MP.

Pictures and specs of his stick later this week...

I think that is an old photo. I saw him practicing at the Open this year with a Dunlop.

dont know how old that pic is, but he indeed is on with a dunlop now. his history w. volkl was a long time w. the c10pro AFAIK..at least for most of the final years of his reg career and into his senior tour years. dont know how he had it modified or leaded, but it was strung low. someone will know i bet.

  6. Geez, it says Becker strings 16 rackets for a match.

think thats a q10tour paintjob..the q10 was an 18 mains frame and the frame in the picture looks like a 16 to me, which would be the c10pro i believe, which he mostly used in his years w. volkl. dont think mac ever used the t10mp either.

I seriously doubt Mac would play with the Q10 Tour, that thing was light and had to be tinny. I also think it must have been a C10. Becker does look like Gerard, he needs to gain about 40 pounds to match Gerard's body type.

Mac played a C-10 Pro before moving to his Dunlops. Boris played an actual Q-10 Tour, with various mods made to it.

    So you're saying that it's a stock C-10?

mcenroe used a regular volkl c-10 but with a leather grip then lead tape on the head so it would = 13oz. this was the weight of his old dunlop max200g as well. last year he switched to dunlop 200g and now hes suppossed to be using some new racquet made just for him that looks retro = dunlop maxply mcenroe or something

Not to split hairs, but Volkl did produce a Q10 Tour that was heavier and more mainstream a frame. It had an 18X20 pattern and played stiffer then the C10. In other words, it wasn't the first iteration of the Q10.

Definitely looks like a C10 to me...The handle looks custom, more square than Volkl. What a bat weighing in at 366, it takes some skill to get that thing in the right position for a volley.

I recall a Volkl rep telling us years back -- when McEnroe was still w/ Volkl -- that he had indeed switched from the C-10 to the Quantum 10 Tour, but had it specially made w/ a 16x19 string pattern. I expressed doubt that they would go to such trouble, but it turns out it's really not that big a deal.

I saw McEnroe practice pretty recently (within the last month) he was using a weird racquet that was NOT any racquet offering from Volkl or Dunlop, I did not recognize it.

I read the same thing Django heard. It was a Q10 Tour with lead under the head protector and grip. Modified from 18x20 to 16x19 and given a leather grip.

of course the volkl rep would tell you that..they were trying to push q10's which never sold well.
