Great article. Anybody that considers themselves as a tennis player no matter at what level. Club or Recreational, should definitely read this.

I definitely agree with the points about a sport for life and also the networking opportunities it provides later in life. So true. I've also thought about the cruelty of only one person in a draw can win the tournament and of course the small chance every person has of making a profit playing pro tennis.

As a tennis parent and forum participant, the article touched on topics that are commonplace here on the forum. No epiphany for me but it was a nice summary and I think many tennis parents around the world could benefit from this quick and helpful read.

Everyone loses in every sport, so I don't know if it is sport specific. Basketball always ends in a tournament, football needs to. Volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. A sport like track or swimming has multiple event winners, but just one team champ.

Tennis and golf just do a tournament for every competition. That is what burned me out of juniors. I much preferred high school tennis to junior tourneys. A season long quest with friends was way cooler than me against 31 other kids. But, I'm more of a team personality than an individual.
