I was just looking at the rankings and I realized something. if Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, and David Nalbandian were to team up to combine their ATP points they still wouldn't take the #1 spot away from Roger Federer. in fact they would still have to win a slam to take the #1..... that's pretty sick.

    1 Roger Federer = 7,275 points.

    3 Andy Roddick = 2,785
    4 David Nalbandian = 2,570
    11 Lleyton Hewitt = 1,665
    Total Roddick, Hewitt & Nalby = 7,020 < 7,275

not even Nadal is close to Fedex....that's insane with all the titles Nadal 's won in the last 52 weeks.

    A slam? Not needed...
They could win Viña del Mar, or ATP Buenos aires (just to name a small tourney) to get 1 point, and they'll be the new #1 group :p

nice math argentino, if 'they' were to win Vina del Mar the winner gets about 50 pts. ... putting all these tools together they're still more than 200 points away from Federer which means that they would indeed have to win a major and hope Fed gets eliminated early. ..... all this hypotheticly speaking of course.

Whoa. Roger deserves another vacation. His ankle could use some "chillin' in the sun with Martini in hand" kind of break.

if Nadal doesn't recover soon and get back into his rythm I think Federer has a serious shot at winning the french this year and going all the way with the slam

I don't understand why Hewitt has so few points. I mean the guy did get to the semis of both Wimbledon and the US Open last year (in addition to his AO final). How many guys on the tour can claim that?

You've listed the Entry Ranking points...which means that majors are worth 1000 points (Race X 5). The "group" would "only" need to win a Masters, worth 500 points. ;)

This reminds me of the superfans on SNL.
Who would win between the Giants and da Bearss, if all the Bears players sat on da bench and let da coach cover da whole field for 'em?

Da Bearss. 49 to negative 7.
    Yeah, he's a merciful Ditka.

Okay, so, seriously guyss....Raajjer Federer against a pack of wolves, Hewitt, Roddick, and Nalbandian? Three outta five, and Raajjer's got Miroslava tethered to his little skinny left arm.
Da Fedd. 6-0, 6-0, 6-negative 2. His chick decided to use racquet in da third set. Da girl's got chops.

So what...its not like its no.2 + no.3 + no.4 points all together is still now where no.1 points are. Not extremly impressive, just another reason to praise Federer IMO.
