So I just picked up this frame today, put a leather grip and new pro overgrip on it. For those who have used it, what should I expect? I currently use a k6.1 95.

Also, anyone have the specs? I've found an incomplete listing somewhere in my search. New grommets should be here early next week too!

    Thanks for your help!

    Cheers!

I just picked one up again. Last time I wasn't crazy about just another 95 sq inch Wilson classic (having PS95 and Ultra FPK as main MP frames).

This time it turned out to be a European version, 18x20 pattern. I'm very excited. Going to customize and string it soon. With its nice narrow constant beam, even balance and the string pattern it should be a nice control-oriented frame. Actually looking for specs, too.

Well I had some time to have a couple hits with this racquet. No true match play yet, but still a good hit.

Compared to my K6.1 95 it is much more solid. I have a full bed of Lux in my K6.1 and the 6.6 came strung with Prince Syn Gut (which I actually do not mind), so the strings are night and day different. I must say, I can take a nice, nice big cut with the 6.6 and it feels very comfortable, with good plow through. Slices are really nice too. It made my K6.1, which is in no way a recreational racquet, very light and flimsy.

Do I want to make a switch? I do not know!

    Cheers!

I absolutely agree with your assessment of K6.1 95. Very light and flimsy it is even leaded.

Here my personal ranking at present of all WIlson Midplus 95 frames that I like:

    1. Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95
    2. Pro Staff 6.0 95
    3. Ultra FPK 95

I hope the Classic Tour 6.6 will join the rankings soon. :)

Tennis Man, I think you will like the 6.6 a lot. If you liked the 6.1 Classic and 6.0, you should like the feel of the 6.6. But it does have a dense string pattern compared to those two. Just great feel though, super stable and solid, and very good plow through. I played with it during late high school years. I picked it over the 6.0 and 6.1 classic, actually, while a close buddy picked the 6.0. I still have a couple of new (dark blue 95) grommet sets if anyone wants them.

Thank you. It's already being strung. I can't wait to hit with it. I had a blast with PSC6.1 in the past couple of days. I can't believe that I overlooked it for so long. It's been hanging on my wall and I was about to sell it. Then I went to play with my new strong 4.5 opponent and have been beating him with this stick ever since. :)

Did you play with 18x20 pattern? What tensions were you using? I'd like to get your grommet sets. Please contact me at AVL 777 HOTMAIL COM.

I'm pretty sure the 6.6 Tour Classic Stars and Stripes only came in 18x20 pattern if my recollection is worth anything any more! lol Also, there's no way I can remember the tension I used as this was back in my school days, 1990-1991 when I played it. Sorry, I have CRS...

I know I still have a pretty beat up but still structurally good 6.6 somewhere, just can't seem to find it!

As far as I know, the 95 inch had an 18 x 20 pattern, and the 85 inch had the 16 x 18 pattern.

The 95 inch does not seem to be as popular, so you may be able to find more of those. I had one, could not sell it for a reasonable price. I almost gave it away just to get rid of it.

The 85 inch used to go for $150 - $200, now it also suffers from the general decline in racquet prices.

I need to play a good match with this racquet to see if I can handle it for a good two hours.

I'm just worried because it has made my normal stick, the K6.1 95 feel really, really flimsy. I mean, it is still useable, but has nowhere near the plow and feel of the 6.6 95.

    Anyone have any specs yet?

    Cheers!

I am in desperate need of a new grommet set for my 6.6 95 18x20.

Can you help me please? They are impossible to get hold of in the UK.

I still have 3 full new sets of the grommets for the 95. I took this pic (with Ceramic Destiny grommets) for TT user Keifers and sent him 1 set about a month ago. I haven't checked with him if he replaced the grommets on his frame yet...

I can't count the mains with just the grommet sets but I'm 100% positive my 95 that I played with had 18 mains and these were the grommet sets I got for them 20 years ago! Shoot me a message via TT's system and we can work something out.

    Hey PaulMan,

I haven't installed the grommets you sent me yet. Holding them up next to my 6.6 95, they look to be an exact fit. And, yes, the string pattern is 18x20.

P.S. Everyone, I recommend PaulMan -- he's a straight shooter. I had a very easy transaction with him trading some tennis stuff recently. Good guy. :)

Hey there Keifers! Thanks buddy for the update and ditto on the reference! BTW did you find out if the Ceramic Destiny grommets fit your Composite? I'm hoping they did...

    Swingweight 330,
Flex 60 or so, all other specs same as the PS 6.0 95.
So basically a PS 95 with softer flex, denser pattern, and higher SW.
I used to have 3 but I sold them and Otten I regred. Pluch feeling with indeed excellent stability. Low half volleys were a dream...
Paintjob was rather ugly IMO but what the heck.
From modern sticks The new Dunlop bio 200 tour comes somewhat close I just tried it..

I think the swing weight was quite low, closer to 320. Static weight was around 350 grams? It had an even flex throughout its beam unlike the 6.0 where that one felt like the hoop flexed a lot more. The ball came off the string bed much more crisp on the 6.6 than the 6.0. Believe it or not, the 6.0 had a flex of 67 rdc but felt closer to 63 or 64 because of the hoop flex. If I had to guess, I think the 6.6 had a consistent flex of 65 or so.

Oh wow sorry prostaff junkie, I haven't checked this thread for a while. I don't recall ever getting an email from you. Maybe spam filter? Anyways I think I have 2 or 3 sets left & like to keep 1 for my 95. I have no idea what the cost will be to ship it to you in UK? though...
