well Jr. tennis fans ,it's that time of the year again.. the most prestigious Jr. tournament of the year Kalamazoo.. look at some of the names of who's coming to play this year.. the question is who's gonna take the grand prize and earn a free trip into the U.S. Open main draw ?:)

this year's draw seemed loaded, more so than ever. slow slow hard courts so most likely a steady baseliner, though being clutch is bigger than being a grinder.

I wouldn't be shocked if we saw Rhyne Williams, Jenkins or Sandgren in the finals.

However in the end, it should Chase Buchanan's tournament to lose. Surface suits him perfect as he is as physically strong of a tennis player there is in juniors. Also, he's no longer injured

Yeah I'm pretty sure that britton won't play because he won NCAA's so he will most likely get a main draw WC

Alexander Domijan, Mitchell Frank, Ryan Harrison, Evan King, , Jarmere Jenkins, Denis Kudla, Daniel Nguyen, Frederick Saba, just to name a few contenders ..

I think it's going to be Ryan Harrison and Alex Domijan .. Harrison just won a pro challenger series ...

Britton is not playing. He would only play for the WC to US Open.

I really can't see Domijan's game doing well at zoo as the courts are so so slow

i saw buchanan play recently, and he started out playing brilliant tennis, but in the second set (after dropping the first)his mental game just went south for the winter. A couple of racket smashes, a little yelling, the whole shebang. The thing is, when he gets up in a match, he can close it out, and his mental game is on. However, when his opponent takes him out of his comfort zone for a long period of time, frustration just overtakes him.
But I think this is Saba's tournament if he plays at his best. He's a contender at the very least.

I agree with you about Buchanan's mental aspect or lack therefore of. However, from knowing him personally and talking to him about it, he feels confident and extremely focused about Kalamazoo. He basically built his entire summer around this. That said, the draw looks deep, very deep.

I think Cox deserves a mention. If you can reach the Wimbledon final, you're capable of doing serious damage at Kalamazoo.

Muchynski? really? why is it surprising that he isn't playing, or more so, even worth a mention?

Sock and Marcos and Efferding are playing in the 16s... and that's how tough that is... Sock is #5 n the 18s Nats ranking and Giron just won the level 2 Nats at Lakewood which qualifies him to play Zoo 18s but he's playing 16s...

If anybody is going this year I will be volunteering and might see some of you. If anybody wants to setup a hit just for fun let me know or email by clicking on my profile name. SoCal, we didn't connect last year. How about this year if you are coming?

Also, the courts were repainted a few weeks ago so they will be pretty slow. However, I'm putting lots of time on some of those courts so maybe I'll slick 'em up for the players ;).

Zone Team Championships 14s. This is Kalamazoo, the most prestigious US tournament, he won't stand a chance. He barely has made a dent in any big national.

Lets see how he does in this Clay Court Super National and judge to see how well he'll do in K-Zoo, if he can't manage to do well in this National, forget about K-Zoo.

look what he did at the Easter Bowl... zero points, zero wins in the singles didn't get too many games either.. expect the same result for Kalamazoo..

Has the draw or entry list been released already?

I'd say Harrison is the favorite for the title this year, but there are a few other contenders as well. Cox, Sandgren, King, Buchanan, Domijan and Kudla I could see winning it, though Kudla and King aren't in good form as of right now.

Yes and he just got knocked out by Gardiner 2,0. For him to be contender at Kalamazoo? Ha. That is so far-fetched

Of course. Coach Whit can fix all problems. He will be top 10 in NCAA rankings after thru Coach gets thru with him. He plays like he is doing Karate. should call it Karate tennis.

Just because he does well in doubles , doesn't mean anything in singles. We are talking about Singles Kalamazoo, not doubles. He stands no chance and I am being as honest as I can be .

doubles win,OK that will go far in singles.. as far as Nestor,Bryan/Bryan and Paes will go in the US open singles draw... no where... Newman broke his leg in that tournament, maybe it was already broken when he played doubles, that's why he lost...haha..

Your right i thought a kid ranked 100+ in the country was gonna win the most prestigious even in the US, you nailed me

OF COURSE I WAS KIDDING, a blind man could see that hes not going to win the tourny, and when he said it was a funny predicion, i just wanted to find out if he had seen him play b4. Maybe you dont understand the concept of sarcasm
