Ivo is really using a radical??? Or is just his old instinct with the radical paintjob?

It's so weird see him with that racquet. (That pj?)

Ivo is using a stock IG Radical Pro. He ran out of Flexpoint Instincts during Summer '12, and the solution that Head devised was the Liquidmetal Instinct, underneath a Youtek Extreme PJ - their best "masking frame" for paintjobs. The LM Instinct was awful for him, so he switched to the Radical Pro, right before he got sick in March/April '13. His first tournament back after recovering from illness, and debuting the Radical Pro, he made the Quarters in Newport. He won the following week in Bogota. This change was brilliant for Ivo, as he had been wanting to switch to a 16x19 patterned frame for some time, to help his second serve kick and forehand topspin. Mission accomplished. Surely this was a lot more of an answer than you could have ever anticipated. Word to your mother.

i saw him playing at the US Open and his frames looked way smaller than a radical pro. maybe because he is so gigantic though, but looked more like a prestige to me

Ivo wasn't getting the love from Head (haha) back in the spring, when his whole racquet crisis was going down, probably much in part due to his +150 ranking at the time. In short, after he decided to scrap the short-lived LM Instinct plan, Head only offered to send stock demos down to Florida for his testing. Sure enough, the Radical Pro stood out to Ivo, above the Prestige Pro and Speed Pro, as the most legitimate contender, with its ample swing-weight and soft flex. After less than a week of play testing, his new Radical Pro's were in route from Head/Penn to Ron Yu, for that insane grip customization process.

So in short, it is indeed a stock Radical Pro. And, he's playing way better with it than his LM Instinct, but it still doesn't stack up to his old Flexpoint Instincts. Many people dubbed FXP technology as a complete failure - but for a player like Ivo, it was perfect.
