he is a fine player with a very nice technique but I think he is too small and light to suceed in todays power game.

of course guys like ferrer are not bigger but unlike ferrer nishikori is a rather offensive baseline player and doesn't have super human stamina and a nearly errorproof game.

so his game will suffer more by his lack of physical strength than grinders do.

He has nice strokes but his problem is that he has the strokes and the game of a hitter but the body of a grinder. so he hits big but not big enough to outhit the hitters (because he is small and of frail build) and doesn't grind well enough to outgrind the grinders.

if he becomes more consistent and stays injury free (had a lot of bad luck with that) he will definitely reach top30, maybe even top20 for a shorter period but I would be extremely surprised if he made the top10. his game is fine not enough to beat the big dogs.
