So the String way/Alpha clamps are out of the question due to their high cost, but I've got to get rid of these bulky plastic Prince/Gamma clamps.

I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Klippermate or SP Floating Clamps. It sounds like (correct me if I'm wrong) that they're both all metal construction and grip/resist slippage equally well. I'll mainly be stringing one-piece, ATW patterns. But which clamp is really better?

Which is easier for one handed operation? (Both for clamping and unclamping)

Does one require more clamping force to close/open?

    Thanks!

I like the SP clamps better than the Klip clams i've worked with in the past. The gripping heads on the SP were machined slightly better, although they were wider, which can be a real pain on frames with tapered string beds (i.e. denser in the middle).

One handed operation: same, no flying clamps are REALLY easy to use one handed. The klippermate clamps are easier to pop open one handed.

    Clamping is no different.

I have no problem opening the SP clamps with one hand. Tightening is very easy, even when it will squish the string, not much force is needed. Only down side is they don't open as wide for crosses that are spread far apart.

I thought Alpha sold stringways. I'll certainly check out the $25 jobbies. Thanks.
