What was the largest racquet head ever made? (Manufacturer and model.)

What's the largest current racquet head? (Manufacturer and model.)

On the second question, maybe the Wilson n1 Force nCode at 125 square inches?

As a side note, there are some interesting comparative photos on this page:

Funny, it DOES look a lot like a giant racquetball racquet.

Somewhere -- and now I can't find where -- I thought I saw a reference to a modern-era racquet that was in the 145 sq. in. range.

Any guesses as to who might have made that one?

The predecesor of that 137 in Gamma is called the big bubba, and it was just as big.

i know not the direct answers to your questions but weed is rather well known for its large head size rackets

The Wilson H1 Outer Edge at 135 sq. in. comes close to the Gamma Ipex 2.0. Not quite there, but close.

Yeah, the gamma ipexes are the biggest i've seen @ 137. Weed does make super-oversize racquets, as yoga correctly stated.

True! Weed has some 135 sq. in. racquets, too. And for some reason, that name seems to ring a bell with an even larger racquet I'd heard of -- but can't be sure if that's the maker or not.

Yeah, they named it after what they were smoking when the idea occurred to them.

They first wanted to make a 200 sq. in. racquet, but wiser heads prevailed.

    Wiser heads...

I think 135 is the largest "legal" racket. Weed, Wilson and probably a few others make them this size

Wow! I can't imagine a beginner using this racquet. The user must have forearms the size of Popeye's. I am already finding 330 swingweight a bit on the high side, this racquet has a SW of 345 ... I'm sure Gamma needs to include medical liability coverage with every sale!

I'm thinking of buying something larger than the legal limit of 135 square inches.

Not because I want to use it, but because the kids need something to jump up and down on in the backyard. (I'll string it rather loose.) ;)

I think the gamma is probably the biggest. I just don't seem to understand why it is necessary to make such big racquets. 110sq in is prabably enough but 137? Who's it made for?

I still think -- and I could be wrong about this -- that there was a racquet produced by someone that topped the 140-square-inch mark. (Mid-140s, maybe?)

Does that ring a bell with anyone?
