Does anyone know the last time a Grand Slam title was won by a player using a wood racket? I don't know the answer. I'm just curious. Could it have been Borg's last French Open?

Men: 1981 U.S. Open, McEnroe def. Borg, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3. The last men's match with a player using a wood racquet in the final would have been in 1982 at Wimbledon, when Connors def. McEnroe in 5.

Women: 1983 French Open, Evert def. Jausovec 6-1, 6-2. Last final with a wood racquet, 1983 U.S. Open, Navratilova def. Evert 6-1, 6-3.

I think it was Yannick Noah at the 1983 French Open using his Le Coq Sportif Concept 3 Oversize TCO to win when he beat Mats Wilander 6-2, 7-5, 7-6 serving and volleying. It is a wood racquet that is graphite reinforced. It is not Oversize buy today's standard it is about 95 sq. measuring it up to a modern Babolat Pure Control. It was a wood racquet not a standard wood but a wood racquet that was bigger than standard that had a little graphite to reinforce it's larger head.

I thought that one was a graphite composite with an open throat?

Kevin Curren played the final of the 1984 Autralian Open with a standard wood racquet (Kramer pro staff) against Wilander. Mecir played two Grand Slam finals with a midsize wood composite (including the 1986 US Open and the 1989 Australian Open).
